WWE TAKING STEPS AGAINST GROUPS RUNNING WRESTLEMANIA 31 WEEKEND, BRYAN UPDATE, LATEST ON FOLEY RUMBLE OUTRAGE AND LOTS MORE

I'll be appearing this afternoon on 105.1 Bob Rocks FM in Harrisonburg, VA in the 4-5 PM hour, discussing the WWE Royal Rumble, the Wrestlemania direction, the Daniel Bryan fallout and more with DC Bob. We always have a really fun discussion, so if you get the chance to hear it, let me know what you think! Thanks Bob!

The Daniel Bryan BBC article was at one point the most viewed article on the BBC News website. Considering how much traffic the BBC News website gets, that's damn impressive. Right now, it's dropped down to number four.

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley changed his Twitter bio to "Not happy with the Royal Rumble" and noted that he promised to put a brick through his TV if Bryan didn't work the show and he will. He later noted that TMZ wanted to come and document it. Say what you will about Mick, but he's a passionate guy when it comes to the business and for him to speak out against WWE about anything shows you how much the entire thing really bothers him.

WWE is taking steps against outside groups running Wrestlemania 31 weekend in Santa Clara, CA. As part of their deal running the market, WWE has locked in a no-compete with all city owned facilities in the market as well as several larger hotel chains. Promoters who usually run conventions and wrestling shows over Mania week have been told that non-competes won't allow any wrestling events to be held in those venues. Very smart move by WWE as with very few choices in terms of venues in that market that are close to WWE's events, it makes running the weekend not as financially feasible.

As a follow-up on what I wrote about Netflix using Paul Heyman's terminology as part of a marketing campaign, our own Jonathan Murphy and a lot of others sent word that The 'Eat. Sleep. Netflix. Repeat.' is a play on words by a song from Fatboy Slim, Riva Starr, and Beardyman (remix by Calvin Harris). Jonathan noted, "The song is called 'Eat. Sleep. Rave. Repeat.' and is quite a hit in the techno community."

Hometown guy The Miz was interviewed by The Cleveland Plain Dealer today to promote the Raw taping at this link.
