Long recap:

March 16, 2013: WWE Smackdown! In Hammond, Indiana

Ring announcer is Tony Chimel, Bell time is 7:30, and we start right on time.  National Anthem was played, and away we go.

Match 1: Great Khali (with Natalya) vs. Epico and Primo (with Rosa) in a Handicap Match.

Khali got a ton of chops in on the two in the corner, Epico and Primo wind up getting some offense in.  When Khali regains control, Rosa jumps on the apron to be a distraction, which Natalya stops.  Chop to the head on one of the two and Khali gets the pin.  Crowd was very much into Khali.

Winner: Great Khali

We are asked to tweet votes in on whether Ricardo Rodriguez should be allowed to stay at ringside during the Last Man Standing bout between Alberto Del Rio and The Big Show.

Match 2:  Yoshi Tatsu vs. Michael McGillicutty

About a minute or two into the match, McGillicutty rolls out of the ring, proceeds to argue with a fan, who then takes his shirt off as if to say "Its on."  McGillicutty later attempts a splash onto Tatsu in the corner, Tatsu dodges it and rolls him up for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Yoshi Tatsu

On the way to the back, Tatsu is attacked by McGillicutty.  Crowd was very into this match as well, with Tatsu at times having his name chanted, and the boos were very loud for the son of Perfect.  Crowd is pretty hot tonight.

Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger do a promo on the mini tron, this time discussing how the Spanish language shouldn't be as prevalent as it is.  We The People.

Match 3: Alicia Fox vs. Layla

Alicia heels the crowd, attempts to call a time out, and then offers a handshake to Layla.  Shockingly, Alicia uses this to her advantage for an offensive manuever.  However, Alicia falls apart and Layla hits a cross body splash on Alicia for the win.

Winner: Layla

Ricardo Rodriguez was voted in the match by the WWE Universe.

Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter come to the ring, and Swagger has the mic.  He says its time for us all to stand up for America and say "NO MORE."  He says we should all stand up for a great American, that being Zeb Colter.  Colter asks us if the message they bring is wrong?  This gets some boos, some cheers.  He acknowledges some people boo and some people cheer the message, but everyone knows that they are telling the truth, we just may not admit it because we don't want to be called something, because we want to be politically correct.  They will stand up for us.

A titan tron video pops up from Del Rio and Rodriguez, once again spoofing their vignette from Raw last Monday.  In it, they talk about how the worst people to come across the border are Canadians, and they keep smuggling in Maple Syrup.

Match 4: Jack Swagger (with Zeb Colter) vs. Justin Gabriel (aka Gostin Jobriel.)

Swagger wins with an Ankle lock.  Bell rang 3 times from him to even let go.

Daniel Bryan video backstage with Kane.  Bryan says he hates Cody's mustache, and if there is anything he hates, its ridiculous facial hair.  Kane calms him down, Bryan thanks him.  Kane says "you're welcome."  Bryan says, "no, you're welcome."  You all know the drill.

Match 5: Last Man Standing Match for the World Heavyweight Championship
Alberto Del Rio (with Ricardo Rodriguez) vs. The Big Show

Ricardo asks us all to help introduce Alberto.  We do.  After a few minutes, Alberto gets good cheers for bringing a chair in to beat down Show for a bit.  Later, Show gets good cheers for chokeslamming Del Rio through a table.  Another table is brought in, and Show sets it up in the corner.  Show attempted to powerbomb ADR through the table, instead, Del Rio turns it into a 'rana and sends Show through the table.  Del Rio up around the 8 count, but Big Show was down for the count.

Winner: Alberto Del Rio

Intermission

Match 6: Intercontinental Championship Match
Wade Barrett vs. Bo Dallas

Barrett grabs the mic and demands to be acknowledged by the crowd.  The boo and tell him he sucks.  Bo Dallas comes in, and the reaction to him was not nearly as good and anyone pre intermission.  It was a decent match, which Barrett won by his punch when Dallas missed a double axe handle off the top turnbuckle.

Winner: Wade Barrett

Mark Henry backstage promo saying that he was going to induct Randy Orton into the Hall of Pain.

Match 7: Tag Team Championship Match
Team Hell No vs. Team Rhodes Scholars

Sandow gets on the mic and says that Hammond Indiana insignificant and it will now forever be remembered as the fifth stop on the Rhodes Scholars reunion tour.  Cody gets on the microphone and said that Hammond and the area around it is scummy, and he was going to talk one on one with his best friend Damien Sandow.  He asks Damien a few questions and Damien does the "yes!" gimmick.

Hell No comes out.

Bryan goes for double axe handle on Cody, but hits Kane.  They push, shove, argue.  Then decide to hug it out, but Rhodes Scholars attacks before they can.  They take control, and they get to hug.  The finisg sees Kane pin Cody, while Sandow was caught in the No lock.

Winner: Team Hell No

Daniel Bryan says he is the Tag Team Champions, they argue.  Kane takes the belts.  Bryan wants his back and Kane says "no!"  So Bryan said he will take it himself.  They do a bit where Kane is a bullfighter and Bryan is a bull.  Silly, but fun.  Crowd is into it, as am I.  They then hugged it out.

Match 8: Randy Orton vs. Mark Henry

Henry grabs the mic and tells us "I don't need security, you need security.  I don't need to be put in line, I'm gonna put you all in line."

At one time, Henry beat down Orton and stole his pose.
Finish sees Mark Henry hit Orton with the chair, giving Orton the disqualification victory.

Winner: Randy Orton

Henry gets in the ring with the chair, goes to hit Orton, who ducks and hits Henry with the RKO.  Randy walks around ring and poses, slaps hands and signs autographs ringside, and crowd goes home happy.

Hammond was a hot crowd tonight, and were into pretty much everything and everyone.  Khali and Tatsu being over as much as they were surprised me, as was the heat for McGillicutty.  Being this close to Chicago, though, shouldn't be surprised by how good the crowd was.

WWE returns to the area for Payback on June 16th.
