MAIN EVENT OF CHIKARA iPPV, WHAT APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN LONGEST MATCH IN NYC IN YEARS TODAY

By Mike Johnson on 2012-11-18 18:29:56
Today's CHIKARA event at the Highline Ballroom in New York City featured a 66 minute Torneo Cibernetico, which may be the longest bell to bell match in NYC in many, many years. There have been some one hour draws in ROH but 66 minutes may be the longest bout since the 77 minute curfew draw between Bruno Sammartino and Pedro Morales at Shea Stadium in the 1970s.

In the Torneo, Tim Donst was the final winner, pinning Grand Champion of CHIKARA Eddie Kingston in the finals. After, Donst worked over Kingston and warned him that he had two weeks' notice, so the main event of CHIKARA's "Under the Hood" iPPV will be Kingston defending against Donst. That's a storyline that has been building since Donst attacked him at the King of Trios tournament a few months back.

Today's show drew over 400 for CHIKARA in the market with 375 tickets pre-sold, a new record on both accounts for the promotion in NYC. There is currently no set return date for CHIKARA at the Highline Ballroom.

Another major angle at today's show was Jigsaw turning heel, laying out Mike Quackenbush with a superkick as Quack tried to settle the issues between the two.

Sean Waltman, as the 1-2-3 Kid, reunited with Marty Jannetty to defeat the Heart Throbs on the undercard. We'll have a full recap later on.

The 12/2 iPPV will take place at the Trocadero in Philadelphia, PA and can be ordered at www.CHIKARAPro.com.
