CHIKARA DEBUT IN KINGSPORT, TN PREVIEW

By Josh Higham on 2011-10-07 16:36:22

Chikara presents “Klunk in Love” Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the Kingsport Civic Auditorium in Kingsport, TN. Belltime is 7 pm.
Chikara continues its Southern expedition by making its debut in Tennessee: Smoky Mountain country. The 12 Large Summit is wrapping up, or could be essentially wrapped up based on the events the night before. Tennessee will also see the international influence of Eagles, McKay, Harada, Kotoge, and Kana.

12 Large Summit Block B: Jigsaw (2 pts, e) vs. Ultramantis Black (2 pts)

12 Large Summit Block A: Hallowicked (4 pts) vs. Ophidian (0 pts, e)

Both of these matches could have increased intrigue or decreased importance based on the matches in North Carolina. Heading into the weekend, Ultramantis Black and Hallowicked are holding on to hope to advance to the finals from their respective blocks and become the first Chikara Grand Champion. Jigsaw and Ophidian can both become a spoiler for their opponent. But if Hallowicked or Ultramantis Black lose on Friday, their matches will just become a singles contest between two longtime Chikara athletes.

Sara Del Rey vs. Kana

Although announced previously, this match becomes a rematch from the Shimmer Volume 42 DVD taping last weekend. Del Rey wants to avenge her loss and even the score. One of the top females from Japan versus one of the top females from the American independents.

The Colony (Fire Ant and Soldier Ant) vs. Momo no Seishun Tag (Daisuke Harada and Atsushi Kotoge)

Flashback to King of Trios 2010, The Colony defeated Team Osaka Pro to advance to the finals. Just last month, Fire Ant went to Osaka Pro for a tour where he and Green Ant faced off with Harada and Kotoge for the Osaka Pro Tag Team Championship. The Colony lost that match on Harada and Kotoge’s home turf. Will home field advantage help the Colony this time?

The BDK (Tursas, Tim Donst, Jakob Hammermeier, and Delirious) vs. Mike Quackenbush, Eddie Kingston, Green Ant, and Sugar Dunkerton

The quartet of the BDK team again to take on a motley foursome of Chikara fan favorites. Each of the Chikara tecnicos have had issues with the BDK over the past two years, but the issues between Tursas and Green Ant come to the forefront again. Tursas promises to end Green Ant once and for all after both of their matches this weekend. It will be interesting to see how Eddie Kingston teams with his partners: it will be his first tag action since last year’s Cibernetico.

Madison Eagles vs. Jessie McKay

Two Australian females who know each other very well will meet in a Chikara ring for the first time in three years. The former Shimmer Champion and Everybody’s Favorite Girlfriend came to America together and made their names as the Pink Ladies, but the former mentor and protege have been on opposite sides of the ring more often than being on the same side.

Chase Owens vs. Archibald Peck

Chase Owens made his Chikara debut at the Young Lions Cup. In Tennessee, he will face off with another participant in the tournament, Archibald Peck. Peck has promised to introduce a new mascot for March Madness at this event. Will Owens be able to use the hometown support to overcome whatever dubious plan Peck has up his sleeve?

The Batiri vs. Team FIST

The Most Dangerous Trio takes on a trio who would want to take that moniker for themselves. The Batiri have been impressive in their year-plus in Chikara, but FIST has been one of the preeminent trios in Chikara history. A win for the Batiri would be a major coup.
