BY THE NUMBERS: LOOKING BACK AT THE WEEK IN WRESTLING FROM WWE, TNA, AND ROH WITH TWO SHOWS HAVING THEIR LAST EPISODES

By Richard Trionfo on 2011-04-08 23:28:10
It is a sad time here at By the Numbers because this is the final time that I will get to summarize the offerings from Ring of Honor on Monday nights and WWE Superstars on Thursday nights because both shows are no longer going to exist after this week. Fear not, loyal readers of By the Numbers because By the Numbers’ cousin by marriage, Beyond the Numbers will take a look back at the 98 episodes of Ring of Honor Television and the 104 episodes of WWE Superstars including a roll call of every match from both shows and the wrestlers who appeared on the shows.

This week we returned over 100 minutes for the first time in three weeks when we last saw a show break the thirty minute barrier. The only milestone reached this week was the three hundred match barrier for TNA Impact.

In its final week, Ring of Honor provided us with the second longest match in the fifty-nine weeks that I have been doing this column, a 26 minute six man tag match featuring six of the top wrestlers in Ring of Honor. This match brought up the average match length during the course of the show’s run for this column up more than a tenth of a minute. This is pretty impressive when you consider that there have been 174 matches from Ring of Honor during the fifty-two episodes that aired.

The other show that will be leaving us after this week is WWE Superstars which ended its run in the United States on WGN America. This show was usually the second highest for per hour average of wrestling and for a while had more than 20 minutes of wrestling per hour. In the end, it ended up with a respectable 19 and a half minutes per hour of wrestling and an average match length of just under six minutes.

The wrestling times below cover the wrestling that takes place during the show so commercials are not included. All times are rounded to the closest minute (examples: a 4:23 match will be listed as 4 minutes while a 4:32 match will be listed as 5 minutes and anything under a minute is rounded up to a minute).
