TNA BUYING A NEW NAME, BRET HART HAVING BACK UP, HOGAN AT LIVE EVENTS AND MORE

By Buck Woodward on 2010-02-05 10:00:00
Since WWE is no longer interested in being referred to as WWF could TNA purchase the rights from World Wildlife Fund and call themselves that?

I suppose they could, but I would imagine the price tag is pretty high.  I would also imagine that WWE could file a lawsuit and claim TNA acquired the name solely to create "confusion in the marketplace" and try to stop them from using it.

Do you think Hogan will get booed or cheered when he makes is first live appearance?

Cheered, for the most part.  Fans buying tickets to a live TNA event with Hulk Hogan on it are most likely going to be attending to see the legend in person.

Okay, so I’ve read articles that pop up every so often, usually interviews where someone in the industry talks down about fans who “use wrestling lingo.”  I understand the frustration some people may have when fans try to act too “smart” but, honestly, I’ve never got how protective they’ve been of some terms.  “Rib” and “heel” are just two terms I have heard outside of wrestling used in the same context.  I know that the wrestlers have the perspective that it’s people using “industry terms” but before insulting the people that pay for ppv’s, tickets and merchandise maybe they should educate themselves, pay attention to pop culture at large and find out that they don’t own the terms.  Do you think some wrestlers go out of their way to be obnoxious about the topic or are they just truly blind and don’t know the terms are used outside the industry?

I think it is a combination of things.  Sure, some guys are just being jerks.  Some are just not willing to accept that the days of kayfabe are over, and the business it exposed now, including the lingo.  Some are just still "old school" in that way. And yes, some don't realize that terms like "rib" are not exclusive to their profession.  Personally, unless the fan is being a tool, I think wrestlers should avoid insulting the fans away from the storyline world of wrestling, because in the end, they make it possible for the wrestlers to earn a living.

If there were a screwjob scenario with Bret on live TV do you think blood would prove thicker than water…..essentially would Hart Dynasty run in on a shoot situation to help Bret if he were in physical danger?

If Bret were in physical danger (which I don't see happening), I would not only expect the Hart Dynasty to run in, but quite a few others as well.

Just reading about Charlie Haas and his deceased brother Russ. Was Russ seen as a promising prospect before his death? And how did he compare to his brother?

I saw Russ Haas wrestle on the Northeast indy scene, including numerous matches in Jersey All Pro Wrestling.  He was a fantastic worker, and with all due respect to his brother, was probably more of a "natural" when it came to wrestling.  Had he not passed away, I'm certain he would have made it in WWE.
