HURRICANE, BOOKER T, RAW GENERAL MANAGER AND MORE

By Buck Woodward on 2009-12-17 10:00:00

The Hurricane has already unmasked and denounced his former Super Hero persona.  Why am I supposed to care that "The Ripper" wants to demask him?  Haven't we already learned his secret identity?  The secret is out!!!

Because you're not supposed to remember that!  Or, at least WWE wants you to not remember it... or just be oblivious to it... or something like that.

I was reading your Q&A this morning and you mentioned that Booker T could possibly return to WWE down the line. As WWE has acquired or reacquired talent in recent history they always seem to announce it or at least let the cat out of the bag which eliminates the surprise of that persons return (ie. Christian, R-Truth, etc). Do you think WWE would benefit from keeping the signing of a well known star like Booker T under wraps so that is eventual surprise return could create some buzz and start to re-obtain that "must watch cause you don't know what you might miss" feeling there was so many years ago?

I would prefer it if WWE tried harder to have surprise returns, since they are a lot more exciting.  However, in the case of Christian, TNA had already let the cat out of the bag by announcing on their show that Christian was heading to WWE, so there was little point in making it a surprise.

I read the Smackdown-ECW results from Stuttgart, Germany and saw that Katie Lea Burchill teamed with Mickie James in a Diva's tag team match. Could this be seen as a sign that Paul Burchill will lose to The Hurricane next week on ECW and Paul and Katie Lea will move to Smackdown and become faces.

It certainly appeared that Burchill and Lea were going to Raw, since they were put on Raw house shows.  However, since they came up with "The Ripper" storyline, I guess they are holding off on it for now. I don't see them turning babyface, despite that tag match overseas.

With all the RAW ratings going down lately, I've been noticing the celebs are def not making sense or interest me like Barker or Shaq had because Triple H has been telling the GM what matches to make for Raw & PPV's and all the stupid skits. Do you think changing the Guest GM to having a regular GM like Tiff or Long and then have the celebs make appearances few times during the show would be a good idea? And of course taking out Americas Got Talent & making storylines important like Orton-Kofi unlike Cena-HHH-HBK part 1000 and counting...

I definitely think the ratings seem to prove that the weekly Guest Host concept hasn't really produced results.  I like the idea of a more traditional general manager and once a month bringing in a celebrity for WWE to get their "entertainment fix" from.

Am I alone in the universe thinking this one or not?  I try to watch ECW these days and have to shake my head on how much I miss the old days when ECW was truly ECW.  These days I feel that ECW is just a watered down Smackdown if such a thing is possible. Yes, I know that ECW is a VKM product these days obviously but you would think that if it worked first time around, why fix it if it ain't broke?  Paul Heyman must be ripping out what little hair he has left. Your thoughts?

The ECW train left the station a long time ago.  2001 to be exact.  We were teased with a similar product when WWE did the "One Night Stand" shows and brought back those letters as a new brand, but it didn't last.  At this point, anyone hoping to see something similar to the original ECW on Tuesday nights is dreaming.  As for Paul Heyman, I think it is obvious that he accepts that the current WWE product has little to do with his ECW, other than sharing the name ... and having Tommy Dreamer.
