WWE RELEASES RAW WRESTLER

By Dave Scherer & Mike Johnson on 2009-07-30 13:58:00

World Wrestling Entertainment announced this afternoon that they have released Brian Kendrick. Kendrick, who held the WWE Tag Team championship with Paul London, had been with the company from 2005.

The release marks the end of Kendrick's third run with the company, the first being a developmental deal when WWF used Memphis as a developmental territory and the second being a run that ended when Kendrick requested his release in order to work overseas in Japan with the agreement he would eventually return to WWE.

He made that return to WWE in 2005 where the idea was to put him with Paul London as a team. While the duo had a long run together, they never became a focal point of the company as WWE hasn't pushed tag teams as a main event act for some time.

Kendrick's most recent heel run saw him get a small push on the Smackdown brand as "The Brian Kendrick" with Ezekiel Jackson as his second. The push abruptly ended last April and the duo was broken up after the last WWE Draft.

Kendrick worked as recently as this past Monday on Raw.
