Unless WWE plans to pull the trigger on a CM Punk heel turn, I think his cashing in the MITB briefcase, especially on Jeff Hardy as opposed to the heel Edge makes his title win look weak. It would have done more if he'd come out and told Jeff he were going to challenge him Thursday on Smackdown and then win the title. Your thoughts?
I don't think the title change looks weak at all. With the exception of Rob Van Dam, every MITB winner has cashed in when an opponent is weak. That's the advantage of having the briefcase. You might hate Punk for cashing it in then, but I don't think it makes him look weak. Now, if he loses the title immediately, then yes, it would be weak. But for now, I don't see it as making Punk look weak. Hated, possibly, but not weak.
So with the recent announcement that WWE is looking for a new ring announcer/singer, does this pretty much mean that Lillian Garcia is going to be let go? If so, I think her foul-ups on the mic during ring introductions over the past year or so have definitely led to this. I mean, how can you introduce Kofi Kingston as the IC champ when he's obviously carrying the US Title on his way to the ring? Come on now!
I think all three WWE ring announcers should be nervous right now. It could mean they want to replace Lilian, or it could be they want someone like Lilian (attractive woman who can sing) to work on Smackdown as well.
Since the recently released The Randy Savage Ultimate Collection DVD and one thing I notice is Randy Savage is now on the WWE Website alumni page. Does this mean Savage is heading for the Hall Of Fame in 2010.
I don't think the DVD set or the alumni section means Savage is a lock for the Hall of Fame. But it certainly will fuel speculation that he is going in!
On a live wrestling show, a wrestler, who is frustrated at a goofy angle WWE creative has written for him, takes control of a situation on his own and garners a very good response from the crowd. My questions are a) would this wrestler lose his fellow wrestler's respect and b) is the state of creative so bad right now that they might go with the wrestler's unscripted actions?
I don't know about losing the respect of fellow wrestlers, hell, it would probably gain him a lot of respect. However, it would also incur the wrath of Stephanie McMahon, and that isn't a good thing for the future of your career. Chances are, even if it did get a pop, a burial would be in short order for the wrestler in the storylines (if they were still kept around in the first place).
What happened to Edge's custom "Rated-R Superstar" spinner belt? It just kind of disappeared after Unforgiven when Cena won the championship.
Now that Edge wrestles for the World Title which is the traditional "big gold belt", I don't see the Rated-R spinner belt coming back. Maybe someday, if Edge wins the WWE Title again, it will return.
