I was watching some old tapes with Vince McMahon as commentator, I was wondering did he have permanent Constipation or something? His voice is so annoying and he sounds nothing like he does nowadays so was the voice put on?
I think Vince has always "over-emphasized" his announcing voice, and you can see in numerous interviews on WWE DVD's that his speaking voice isn't the same.
Is it just me or are Matt Hardy and MVP becoming quite noticeably overweight OR at least putting on more weight than is healthy for the both of them?
I wouldn't call either of them overweight. It does appear Matt has put on some more mass, but not in any unhealthy way.
I was wondering what your thoughts were on John Cena ever reaching the AustinRock level of superstardom.
In his current incarnation, won't happen. That's not a slight on Cena, as few ever reach that level. He certainly is young enough and charismatic enough to make it happen, but not in the way he currently is presented.
My question concerns Ric Flair wanting to return to active wrestling after his retirement. First of all, let me say that I feel he is the greatest wrestler of my generation, if not the greatest of all time. He had an awesome retirement match and was given a subsequent send off ceremony unlike any other, which he absolutely deserved. To me, if he wants to return, fine, but it should be as a manager or mouthpiece for a wrestler or even a stable, or some other kind of on-air "personality", not as an active wrestler. It just seems like it would cheapen his retirement and his legacy in wrestling. How do you guys feel about it, and do you think other wrestlers like Shawn Michaels and HHH, his peers, would welcome him back or perhaps see things as I do?
I see it as the reality of the world. Ric Flair, because of the lifestyle he led and choices he made, is in a position where he can't retire at age 60, and has to work in the one industry that offers him the money he unfortunately needs right now, and that's wrestling. I don't see any wrestler, especially his friends, begrudging him making a living in the industry. Do they wish it could be different? Maybe. Do I wish it could be different? Sure. But the reality is Flair needs to make money.
My understanding is that it has been WWE's interest in promoting their business as entertainment. Haven't they been doing that since the days of Vince McMahon, Sr.? Hasn't the wrestling alone been the entertainment? It hasn't been the long, drawnout speeches. The behind the scenes antics. The endless interviews and confrontations. The entertainment has always been there: Wrestling. From Bruno Sammartino to Hulk Hogan. From Fabulous Moolah to Trish Stratus. From The Executioners to Matt and Jeff Hardy. To paraphrase, its the wrestling stupid! That's entertainment! Thoughts?
Testify! The wrestling business is the entertainment business!
