Last week on Raw current Divas champion Maryse spoke French while standing in the ring. This reminded me of when La Resistance, Sylvain Grenier and Rene Dupree premiered in WWE a few years ago. Both men portrayed themselves as both arrogant and 1000 times better than all American wrestlers. Even though Maryse is from Canada and one of the main languages is French do you see WWE starting to portray Maryse as a female La Resistance? Someone who thinks of herself above everyone else?
Since Maryse is a heel, that is absolutely what she is doing, although it won't be going for a La Resistance type character.
What is the latest on the health of Lacey Von Erich? I read where she was in the hospital with meningitis and suffering from a tremendous headache. How is she doing?
She was released from the hospital and is being treated with antibiotics for viral meningitis. I haven't heard anything more beyond that.
Is WWE ever going to bring out Survivor Series, King of the Ring and In Your House box sets out?
WWE is already working on the editing necessary for the Survivor Series Anthology. I haven't heard anything about the King of the Ring, but it's a pretty logical guess going forward. You've written that Ric Flair left the WWE because you thought he could earn more money on the indy circuit. If Flair still needs money to make up for prior mistakes, the one thing would be a no-brainer is for him to open a wrestling school. Has Flair ever talked about doing this? Don't you think wrestlers from all around the country (or world for that matter) would come to a school that has Flair's name on it? And who better to learn the tricks of the trade from than arguably the greatest wrestler of the modern era of wrestling?
It's an interesting idea, but would require Flair investing in the project and curtailing his time on the road, where he makes a good deal of money. I don't ever seeing it happen.
Do you think that Raw is being held in L.A. mainly because the Nuggets are playing the L.A. Lakers? And do you think that the staples center will have a decent crowd considering the short notice?
It was absolutely because WWE wanted to stick it to the Nuggets by having it in their "opposition's area." It looked to me like the venues were half-full so my guess is they sold 3-4 thousand tickets a night and comped the hell out of the area.
