The Necro Butcher vs. Mickey Rourke scene in "The Wrestler" did not make it to the final five nominees for the MTV Movie Awards when the final voting categories were announced this afternoon.
The film, however, could still be honored with Best Song as "The Wrestler" by Bruce Springsteen did make the final five nominees for that category. The irony there is that the song isn't actually on the released soundtrack for the film.
The Awards ceremony will take place on 5/31 and be broadcast live, correcting my earlier note that they would be taped and aired on 5/31.
