It's been over two decades since he's been in a WWF ring, but he's still
someone fans talk about to this day. That's right. In a long overdue interview
with the Insanity, the one and only, Outback Jack has come to Club WWI.com for
a 31 minute uncut shoot interview that will tie all your kangaroos down.
Outback Jack is legendary for his brief run in WWF during a time when the
business was booming. Fans still sing his theme song to this day and despite
his years out of the spotlight, he remains one of the most asked about people in
the business. In his 31 minute ClubWWI.com shoot, Outback discusses: Vince
McMahon’s Ego, The Feud He Proposed Against Skinner, McMahon’s Reaction, Why He
Never Went To WCW, Why He Feuded With Killer Khan For Four Months, The Secret of
Khan’s Green Mist, Losing His Sight, Why He Never Turned Heel, The Heaviest
Laziest Man He Ever Had To Work With, The 1987 Slammy’s Travelling With Andre
The Giant, Drinking Beer, His Greatest Match, Stu Hart, Randy Savage, Lou Thesz,
The Kangaroos, The Funks, and More.
Outback has been keeping busy down in Florida lately. He tells James Guttman
about his current days.
“Well, the world of Outback Jack spins a little irregular. Not the same as
everyone else’s. I’ve obviously aged a little bit, as you said, we’re two
decades gone since I first got here. I’ve got a bit of an eye problem at
present. I’m actually blind in one eye and mostly blind in the other. So I
mostly lead myself around in circles.â€
Despite that, Jack is still one of the happiest go-lucky people you’ll talk to.
Keeping the enthusiasm he was known for, Outback’s interview was full of stories
and memories. One topic that often comes up is original plans. JG asks if
there were any ideas for his character that didn’t play out. Jack tells
ClubWWI.com listeners:
“At one point there, Hillbilly Jim and I were paired together and there was talk
that he and I were going to be tag team champions. I don’t know if Jim got
injured or if we somehow fell out of favor with the powers that be.â€
Guttman says that there are so many people behind the scenes, it’s hard to tell
how an idea like that dies. Jack talks about all the cooks stirring the broth
and how the industry is one of “egos.†Prime example:
“There’s egos all up the line. All you have to do is look at Vi nce McMahon to
see that he hauls around an 18 wheeler with his ego in it.â€
