BRYAN DANIELSON-ROH UPDATE

By Mike Johnson on 2009-04-10 09:17:10

Since we've been getting a lot of emails regarding the status of Bryan Danielson and Ring of Honor stemming from rumors that are making the rounds, here is the situation. Many of the ROH talents' contracts expire next month and the company has been in the process of signing them to new deals.

In the case of Danielson, who has been the heart and soul of the company in many ways, he informed ROH owner Cary Silkin last month that while he intends to continue to wrestle for the company, he was not planning to sign a new deal.

I am told that Danielson simply wants the freedom to be able to go work overseas and take periods of time off if he wants.

I haven't heard that he's leaving for another company, although I believe his attending the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony as a guest of William Regal last weekend in Houston raised some eyebrows among fans. The reality is that Danielson had a WWE tryout last year in California with the blessing of ROH and had WWE wanted to sign him at that point, numerous ROH sources indicated at the the time that they wouldn't have blocked him contractually from doing so.

So, that is where it all stands.
