EDGE TALKS ABOUT TONING DOWN HIS STYLE TO PROLONG HIS CAREER, ANOTHER FORMER WWE STAR OPENING A WRESTLING SCHOOL, HOW MUCH LONGER FOR MICHAELS AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2009-04-03 14:43:13

Kevin Eck at The Baltimore Sun has done a Q and A with Edge, where he talks about his experiences with WrestleMania.  He was also asked about how toning down his style helped his career.  He said: Well, you definitely have to. I honestly think that’s part of the reason why I got higher on the card. That’s one of the things that I was told right from the beginning. I remember Steve Austin saying, “Yeah, you have to pick and choose. You have to be careful.” And I just thought I was indestructible. So that’s why at No Mercy you would have Edge and Christian against the Hardys just trying to break every boundary that hadn’t been broken yet. But looking back and feeling it when I wake up in the morning, I get it, I understand it. And I really started to understand it once I started garnering more of a reaction from the stuff that I’m doing now as opposed to trying to flip and fly everywhere. I don’t know when it clicked, but when it did, I went, “Huh, so this is how you do it.” (laughs) It’s giving the people time to react, and a lot of it has to do with story line and getting invested in your character and having more speaking time. But along with that, you have to adapt your style.  You can read the whole thing by clicking here.

Mike Williams sent word that he was listening to Q101 in Chicago today and heard an interview with Shawn Michaels.  Michaels said it's possible that after next year's WrestleMania, he would take some time off from WWE because his contract will expire and he wants to spend more time with his family.  As we mentioned on Elite Audio this week, backstage sources have told us that Michaels has looked kind of beat up lately and it wouldn't shock anyone if he took some time off after Sunday's PPV.

Here's a link to a Slam Sports article where Dave Hebner talks about the Randy Savage-Ricky Steamboat match from WrestleMania 3.

Here's a link to a story that our friend Eric Lewis wrote about the Maritimes wrestling up in Canada.

Ish sent this. ... I have 2 tickets to the 25th ANNIVERSARY of Wrestlemania Section 131, Row FF, seats 21-22. These are great seats with a view of the entrance and ring. Unfortunately, my wife is ill and we cannot make the trip anymore. I wanted to see if I could help another fellow PWinsider reader who is looking to go to the event. The tickets are in pdf for and can be sent immediately. Contact changokid@aol.com if you are interested.
