MORE ON ARREST OF 'WRESTLER' ACTOR ON STEROID CHARGES, NEW ROUND OF MEDIA FOR THE FILM AS OSCAR RACE COMES TO AN END

By Mike Johnson on 2009-02-20 09:02:19

Scott Siegel, the alleged steroid distributor who recreated his role in "The Wrestler" had over $100,000 in cash and 1,500 bottles of anabolic steroids between two homes, said federal authorities yesterday during his arraignment in New York.  Siegel was being tailed when he was spotted picking up a package on Wednesday evening.  When he later returned to his residence, authorities closed in and Siegel fled in his SUV, smashing several police cars and giving chase.  Siegel is facing charges of assault on a federal officer and steroid distribution.  Siegel was ordered held without bail yesterday.  An hour after he was denied bail, Siegel complained of chest pains and was removed via ambulance from the courthouse.  His arrest was picked up by the international media due to his role in the film and the timing of the Oscars this weekend.

Meanwhile, a new round of media attention towards  Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler is coming about as the Academy Awards are this Sunday,

The Chicago-Sun Times featured an interview with stunt driver and actor Sgt. Bryan Anderson, an Iraqi veteran, who made a memorable appearance in the CZW sequence as a wheel-chair bound fan who hands Randy the Ram his prosthetic leg to hit Necro Butcher with at this link.  Believe it or not, that exact moment has happened at both TNA and WWE events long before the film.
