LOTS OF TNA NEWS AND NOTES

By Mike Johnson on 2009-02-16 10:47:57

Several TNA stars worked the 2/15 New Japan event over the weekend.  TNA Tag Team champs Beer Money Inc. defeated Masahiro Chono & AKIRA.  Kurt Angle beat Giant Bernard (Albert) with the ankle lock.  In their first IWGP Tag Team title defense, Team 3D defeated Togi Makabe & Toru Yano.  Kurt Angle will be challenging IWGP champion Hiroshi Tanahashi in Tokyo, Japan on Sunday 4/5.

There may be some additional TNA Knockout signings shortly.

Jakks Pacific will begin working on the TNA action figure line next month in preparation for their January 2010 release, which should give you an idea of how far in advance they work on these things.

Despite their bankruptcy filing (in which TNA is owed six figures), work was continuing on the second TNA video game as late as several weeks ago.  The belief is they are trying to get the game done and out as soon as possible so it can be counted among the company's assets.

The word making the rounds in Puerto Rico was that TNA had purchased a stake in IWA Puerto Rico, but I believe that may be an angle they are doing in the magazines.  LAX won the IWA Tag Team championships last week from Dennis Rivera and Noel Rodriguez.  Samoa Joe also worked on the Island for IWA last week.  Thanks to Phil Lions.

Speaking of Puerto Rico, TNA has a house show there on 3/20.

Satanico el Exotico (Cassandro) is scheduled for the next TNA Impact tapings next week.

This week's TNA web exclusive match, Eric Young vs. Cute Kip, is online:
