FULL VENGEANCE REPORT

By Buck Woodward on 2004-07-12 01:30:00

Backstage, Evolution confronted Triple H about how Eugene figured into his plans.  Triple H was about to clue them in, when he asked where Eugene was.  Orton and Batista blamed each other over who was supposed to watch him.  Triple H went looking for him, and saw that Chris Benoit was talking to Eugene.  Triple H listened in on the conversation, with Benoit telling Eugene that he never wanted to fight him, and that Triple H was tricking him.  Benoit warned Eugene to be careful, and walked off.  Eugene looked confused.  Triple H didn't reveal that he was there to Eugene.

Chris Jericho vs. Batista.

Batista cornered Jericho early and pounded him down. Jericho dodged a charge and Batista fell to the floor.  Jericho used a springboard dropkicked to send Batista off the apron to the floor, but missed a baseball slide and was rammed into the security wall. Back in the ring, Batista hit a kneedrop and a neckbreaker for two. Batista put Jericho in a full nelson, and Jericho struggled out, but Batista tossed him down and reapplied the hold. Jericho struggled, and broke out, sending Batista through the ropes and to the floor.

As Batista got into the ring, Jericho dropkicked hit leg, then hit several kicks to the limb.  Batista swatted Jericho away, and crotched him on the top rope.  Batista went for a back superplex, but Jericho elbowed him down.  Jericho hit a top rope reverse elbow to a standing Batista for a two count.  Jericho hit a pair of forearms, but got caught in a Batista side slam for two. Batista hit a forearm to the back of Jericho, then choked him against the bottom rope. Batista drove his knee into Jericho's throat, and hit a backbreaker for two. Batista hit another backbreaker and squeezed Jericho across his knee. Jericho kneed out of the hold, but Batista drove a knee into Jericho's back.  Batista went for another backbreaker, but Jericho flipped out and hit a chop.  Jericho kicked away a backdrop attempt and hit a running forearm. Batista caught a cross bodyblock, but Jericho floated over and chopblocked the knee.  Jericho went for the Walls of Jericho, but Batista kicked it away.  Jericho tripped Batista into the ropes, but ran into a Batista spinebuster.

Batista set up for a powerbomb, but Jericho floated over into a rollup for two.  Batista hit a series of rights, but ran into a Jericho boot in a corner.  Jericho hit a second rope bulldog, then went for a Lionsault, but Batista got his knees up. Batista missed a clothesline, and Jericho hit an enzugiri.  Jericho crawled over for a pair of two counts. Jericho was favoring his leg, hurt on the attempted Lionsault, as he hit some kicks.  Batista powered back with a spinebuster and a powerbomb for the three count at the thirteen minute mark. The replay showed that Jericho got his foot on the bottom rope, but Batista pulled it off so the ref wouldn't see it.

Winner: Batista.
