PWINSIDER Q & A: JBL FALLOUT, JEFF VS. MATT, RUMBLE SCREW UPS, DREAMER TITLE WIN AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2008-12-24 10:00:00

I would like to ask why they haven't changed the side plate of the WWE Championship belt that marks "MON-NITE RAW" ?

My guess is that, like me, they haven't noticed it.  I have to be honest, I haven't.  I don't see it as a big issue.

Has JBL's mojo now gone forever? Will he ever get it back? Did he cry in Vince McMahon's arms?

JBL has some friends in the locker room and when the incident with Joey Styles went down, those pals made sure to point out things like "JBL is a good guy most of the time and shouldn't drink", making it seem like it wasn't really his fault it happened. So, to those guys, he still pretty much has his mojo since they covered his back and stretched their credibility to do so.  As for those that didn't like him before the shot heard around Iraq, well let's just say that even come of them that don't love Styles sure liked him a little more that day.  As for how JBL handled it, from what I have heard he didn't go whining to anyone.  He was said to be embarrassed and he took his lumps, both literally and figuratively.

With the Rumble approaching I figure it's an appropriate time to ask something I've long wondered: are there contingency plans for accidental eliminations? Guys like Michaels and Jericho obviously know how much they can flirt with false eliminations, but is there a backup if they (or someone else) goes out before a planned spot or, Vince forbid, before they're supposed to win?

First off, everyone is expected to be in control of themselves and not screw up.  Really, they shouldn't either.  In the case of undercard guys, if say Paul Burchill went out before Charlie Haas, it's no big deal.  If a top guy went out, Vince McMahon is right there in the ref's ear to tell him how to handle it.

What do you think are the chances of Tommy Dreamer winning the ECW title, perhaps at Wrestlemania 25? I think that would be an emotional mid-card Wrestlemania moment.

I would love to see it and I think he deserves it, but I would put the odds at 3 to 1, at best.  If it did happen, I too think it would make for a nice Mania moment.

Do you think WWE will now build for a Jeff vs. Matt match? Maybe Matt was the one who attacked Jeff and go from there?

I think that at some point we will see the match but I don't think they will pull the plug on it now.  Jeff is in the middle of a good mix on Smackdown right now that hasn't played out.  But down the road, as long as both guys stay healthy and active, I think it will take place and it will draw a good buyrate.
