PWINSIDER Q&A: TNA HALL OF FAME, A NEW FINISHER FOR HARDY, JOHN CENA AS AN AWA STAR AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2008-12-14 09:29:39

With Jeff Hardy seemingly back on track and looking to take the title off Triple H or Edge what do you think of Hardy getting some sort of new finisher. Don't get me wrong, the Swanton bomb has been one of my favorite moves for a very long time and I wouldn't want to see it disappear for too long. However, it seems like in some way shape or form, the Swanton has led to Hardy's downfall against Triple H on more that one occasion. So what if Hardy pulls out some new finisher that is sold as more devastating than the Swanton and that is what leads him to the title?

I don't believe a new finisher would be what they use to give Hardy the championship, if they finally decide to pull the trigger on him.

I have a question about Jimmy Hart. I know he started in Memphis with Jerry Lawler and during that time Hulk Hogan came through Memphis. Did he develop his relationship with Hogan then which brought him to the WWF, or did he come to WWF on his own and become Hogan's buddy while there?

Hart and Hogan became close during their run in the WWF, although they obviously crossed paths before that.

When Cena or whoever decided to pattern a shirt on the old AWA logo, do you think they were aware that Cena is exactly the kind of guy Gagne never would have pushed as a top star? He refused to ever put the belt on Hogan, so I doubt very much he'd even consider Cena.

I doubt they cared. They own the AWA and it's theirs to do whatever they please with, same as World Class, ECW, WCW, etc.

Do you think Vince would ever consider using the Wargames format with Hell in a Cell?

Consider? Yes. Actually do a Wargames bout? No. I don't see WWE having to reconfigure their entire production look, building design and camera stations for one show, not to mention the loss of income from the additional hundreds of seats that would need to be blocked off for such a project. I don't believe Kevin Dunn would ever allow that to happen, plus the bout has the reputation of being something that originated outside the company and such concepts are rarely adopted by WWE creative.

Recently, some one asked Buck about a TNA Hall Of Fame to which, I agreed with Buck's response about it being too early and not the right situation. With news of the Wrestling Hall Of Fame in upstate NY having announced their inductions for this year, why not just work a deal to be associated with that and add attention to both? I know some people prefer not to be associated with the WWE so this could work to get some of those stars from past years recognized on TV and with the TNA product and give this Hall Of Fame attention as well. Just a thought.

It sounds good from the outside, but TNA wouldn't want to work with an outside entity because they couldn't control the Hall or what the Hall promotes. What if they decided to induct Vince McMahon one year? I can't see TNA promoting that!
