PWINSIDER Q&A: BELLA TWINS, TRISH STRATUS, CHERRY AND MORE

By Buck Woodward on 2008-12-06 10:00:00

How much longer will The Bella Twins be competing against Victoria and Nattie Neidhart on Smackdown? Although the matches between the four have been great, there is such a thing as being complacent. What has been the reaction backstage to the Bella Twins? Do they get along well with the other divas?

Well, there's not a plethora of female tag teams on Smackdown, so if the Bella Twins are going to wrestle tag matches, it will have to be against some combo of Victoria, Natalya or Maryse, at least until Michelle McCool finishes her heel turn.  As for backstage reaction, I haven't heard anything negative about them at all, so it would appear they are getting along well with the others.

Since its most likely that Beth Phoenix, or whoever is WWE women's champion, will be defending her title at Wrestlemania 25 in Houston, TX next year. What are the prospects of Divas champion Michelle McCool, or whoever it may be, defending the Divas belt as well? Two women title bouts. What do you think?

It will be interesting to see what happens, as WWE has never been in a position of having two female single championships in the company.  Of course, we've seen the World Tag Team Championships ignored at Wrestlemania, so WWE could very well just leave one belt off the show.  Still, it is possible we get to female title bouts, although I would think one would probably end up being very short.

What ever became of former WWE Diva Cherry (Kara Slice)? Any chance TNA might sign her to a contract?

She is back on the independent scene, where she worked for years prior to getting her WWE shot.  I haven't heard of any interest on TNA's part.  Personally, I think WWE missed the boat with Cherry, as she had quite a bit of fan support when the company just decided to drop her push.

What are the chances of former WWE women's champion Trish Stratus making a return to WWE in 2009? Making a surprise appearance at Wrestlemania 25. A chance?

At one point, fans seems to think Stratus was hinting at a WWE return with her posts on WWE Universe.  However, with her travel show being picked up for a second season, I don't see a comeback happening.  That said, if Trish were going to try and work in another surprise appearance, Wrestlemania would be the place to try and have it happen at.

I recall watching a series of womens matches in WCW between Madusa and Japanese female star Akira Hokuto. Throughout all the matches the referee in charge would have tremendous difficulty in communicating with Hokuto when she was doing something illegal to her opponent Madusa. It got so bad that during one of the bouts the referee turned to Hokuto's manager Sonny Ono standing outside the ring to help him control his wrestler. Is there a backstory to this would you know?

No real backstory, it was just a bit to add to Hokuto's heel act in the matches.  She would pretend not to understand the referee, and while the referee would plead to Ono for help, Hokuto would continue to break the rules with him distracted.
