PWINSIDER Q&A: WORLD CLASS, EDGE & VICKIE, SURVIVOR SERIES AND MORE

By Buck Woodward on 2008-12-05 10:00:00

Was reading this day in history today (11/26) and saw World Class had a show were Kerry Von Erich wrestled 3 times, Al Perez wrestled and lost twice, was this some sort or tournament or were they just really short on talent?

It wasn't unusual for World Class, especially on some major shows, to have top stars like the Von Erichs or Freebirds wrestle more than once, sometimes in a singles match and later a six-man tag, or sometimes in a short undercard match and later a long main event. It was just the way World Class ran their shows, and it did allow them more matches with their top stars to spread out when the shows were broadcast on TV.

Regarding the post today on the website about Wes Adams and his release following Hardy/Morrison incident, what was the incident?

The incident took place this past August on ECW during a match with The Miz & John Morrison vs. Matt Hardy & Mark Henry.  Hardy had Morrison pinned following a Side Effect, and Miz was supposed to break up the cover.  When Morrison realized Miz was not going to reach them in time to break it up, he lifted his shoulder, but Adams counted three and ended the match.

This question is in regards to the 11/28 Smackdown. Buck said this was a great episode and I have to agree. But the Edge-Vickie story makes no sense to me. Yes it starts multiple story lines and matches involving HHH, Hardy, and Undertaker which is great but what happen to psycho Edge? Why does Vickie trust Edge again? And unless they plan on bringing the psycho Edge story back up again with a twist, Do you feel it's ok to move forward with the current story and ignore the past simply because that's what's over right now?

The story is that Edge and Vickie reconciled.  I imagine we might get more of an explanation down the road, but given the success the two had together, it isn't far-fetched that Edge, after time to calm down, went and "won back" Vickie's heart.

After I watched the traditional Survivor Series matches from Sundays PPV I have to ask. What was the purpose of those matches? People who don't get along team up to wrestle another group of wrestlers who don't get along makes no sense. Mickie James teaming up with Beth Phoenix just doesn't make sense.

I agree, this year's team-ups didn't have a lot of logic behind them, especially when WWE had Randy Orton, in a promo, state that he was a captain of a team, but that he had no say in who the members of his team were.  I think WWE was just looking to throw on "traditional" elimination matches and get top stars on the show, so they were stuck in bouts.

Has there been any recent examples of WWE or TNA renaming a wrestler to tie them into an established wrestling family? For example when the NWA introduced Arn Anderson as Ole's nephew to recreate the Minnesota Wrestling Crew. Why couldn't WWE bring in a wrestler who resembled a famous wrestler and make him a second generation wrestler? Arn Anderson was an extremely talented wrestler before he came to the NWA.

It hasn't happened as recently, probably because of the slew of legitimate second and third generation wrestlers we are seeing these days.  Plus, the business has changed.  I could see someone filing a lawsuit if another wrestler claimed to be related to him, since he could be accused of trying to make money off the established name.
