PWINSIDER Q&A: JIM CORNETTE, MELINA, JOHN CENA AND MORE

By Buck Woodward on 2008-11-15 10:00:00

With Jim Cornette not being on TNA TV, do you think he'll assume a manager role? Since the Motor City Machine Guns have drawn a lot of comparisons to The Midnight Express, I think it would be a perfect fit.

Quite a few people have suggested that with Mick Foley and Jeff Jarrett assuming the "on screen authority roles" in the company, that Cornette should be positioned as a manager again.  I haven't heard any plans for it to happen, but if it does take place, I'd rather see Cornette put with a team that needs a mouthpiece.  The MCMG's can speak for themselves.

What is the latest on WWE Diva Melina? When is she expected to return?

Melina recently returned to the ring at an FCW show, so I would expect her to get back on WWE television following Survivor Series.

Do most wrestlers, male or female, try to have a normal life away from the spotlight or do some prefer the limelight? The fame as it were? For example: Do Triple H and Stephanie get to go out to a movie or a restaurant with their children without being recognized or bothered just like any other normal married couple?

Some wrestlers prefer the limelight, and go out of their way to go to places where they will be "noticed", while others prefer a much calmer home life that you would probably describe as "ordinary".  I can't speak for Triple H or Stephanie, other than noting I once attended a Metallica concert that Triple H also attended, and he apparently purposely waited for the lights to go down before making his way to his seat, so as not to attract attention.

I remember reading where ROH's Bryan Danielson participated in a dark match for WWE prior to either Raw or Smackdown. Is this true? If so, how close was he to signing with them? Have WWE or TNA ever showed any interest in signing him?

Danielson has had numerous dark matches with WWE over the years, and back in the days of Jakked, would often appear on television.  I'm sure WWE has shown interest in signing him, but apparently whatever offer was made to him wasn't enough for Danielson to give up his career as arguably the top independent star in the country.

Do you think that WWE will make John Cena right at Survivor Series in Boston the new World Heavyweight Champion? Is this the reason that Chris Jericho won the belt back? And, of course, do you think, it's way too soon for Cena but Vince wants him asap at the top of the card?

I think it is a very good possibility that Cena will win the belt at Survivor Series, but I could also see them holding off for a while, since the sooner the belt goes on Cena, the sooner fans will want to see Batista vs. Cena II.  I think it is too soon to put the belt back on Cena, but it wouldn't shock me at all to see it happen.
