PWINSIDER Q&A: TESTING THE UNDERTAKER, WWE STARS RETURNING, CHRISTOPHER DANIELS AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2008-10-28 10:00:00

I have watched some of the shoot interviews and heard Team 3d AKA The Dudley's and Raven busting Tommy Dreamers chops about being fat.  Now I have seen some early Tommy Dreamer matches and I don't believe I have  seen him have a body anywhere as fat as Bubba Ray.  Could you explain this?

In the case of both, it's simple teasing towards Dreamer, who is friends with both and very close in particular with The former Dudley Boyz.  It's said to make fun of him playfully, not to bury him over some kind of heat.

The Undertaker has the reputation of one you shouldn't mess with.  I   understand his tenure and being a good company man.  I also understand that he is huge and in my opinion the most athletic "big man" in the  history of the business.  However, reputations are never gained by looks.  There is always little men with little mans disease and young upstarts willing to tug on superman's cape.  My question is, has anyone ever tried this with Taker?

If they have, I don't think they've lived to tell the tale.

Mr. McMahon hasn't been on TV in a while. Do you think he'll return during RAW's 800th episode celebration? It would make sense since it is a 3 hour show and something big will happen. Also is there a possibility of Edge and Umaga returning any time soon?

Vince McMahon didn't return for the 800th anniversary episode, but with the build to Wrestlemania upon us soon, I'd be surprised if we didn't see him back on camera by the time we got to Houston, Texas.  Umaga is slated to return to the road shortly and has been in WWE developmental working out.  Edge will return as soon as he and WWE creative agree on how to bring him back into the storylines, but that won't happen until Edge is mentally and physically prepared to go.

With the legends vs. the young stars that help build TNA angle what do you   think the chances we will see The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels  return?

Although AJ Styles dropped Daniels' name during a promo on the live Impact, I haven't heard any plans to bring the Fallen Angel character back, which is a shame as I think TNA never really figured out a way to make a character that has been compelling elsewhere really click for them.

My question is about TNA.  Do you think TNA drops the ball each and every time they sign a "big name" and has them come out as "THE BIGGEST FREE AGENT IN WRESTLING" as opposed to having someone just debut in some sort of storyline, actually IN CHARACTER, unannounced or something? Perhaps doing a run in or something? I hate how TNA signs guys, like Foley, and just has them walk out, while they're referencing their WWE accomplishments, etc. To me, it REALLY makes things come off as second rate. It's almost as if each time they sign a big name, they simply walk out to the Impact Zone OUT of character.

Yes, I do.  The biggest splash they made was the Kurt Angle announcement, because it was such a huge shock, so unless someone the level of The Undertaker or Shawn Michaels appears, it's going to be hard to tease anything and top that moment.  I too hate the WWE referencing, because it serves to make TNA look second-rate, something they should never do.  You can make vague references to things, like "we've all seen the hardcore wars Mick Foley has had in his careers" and everyone will get the exposition and background without someone saying, "We've all seen Mick Foley come off the Hell in the Cell against the Undertaker in WWE."  TNA has to make themselves seem like they are on the level of everything else going on in wrestling, not a smaller company where WWE guys go after they've peaked.
