PWINSIDER Q & A: HHH BURYING PEOPLE, ARN ANDERSON, LOVE FOR KANE, BROOKE AND DAN AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2008-10-22 10:00:00

There was a question about Mr. Kayfabe, Arn Anderson, and it made me remember a promo he cut where he said, "It says marquee on the wrestling." Was that an intentional slip or just an honest mistake?

If he said that on purpose, what would be the point?  It makes no sense.  It sounds like a mistake to me.

There's always a lot of talk of HHH burying people. Do you think (or know) is his/Vince's (since he has the final say) intent to bury them, or is their intent to make H look strong, without regard to the cost to other workers ?

I have no idea what goes on in the head of Vince or HHH so I can't say with any real confidence what their intentions are.  I would guess that if the situation occurred, in most cases the reasoning would be to put HHH over, not necessarily bury someone else.  Sure, one can lead to another but I think it's more about putting over the H.  I think if HHH is guilty of "burying" anyone, it would be off camera

I've been reading your website daily for years now and always read Q&A and have noticed something in both Q&A and the reports you guys write which leads me to my question. What's your problem with Kane? None of you seem to have a good word to say about him, the man behind the character or his work. To me he is just about the most loyal WWE guy in the business today baring in mind he's been given the worst storylines in WWE history and he's been on the road non stop for nearly 15 years. So why don't you ever give him or at least Glen Jacobs some credit, is it just one of you who has got something against him and if so, what is it? Or something I'm not seeing?

You must not read every article then because I know I have written plenty of positive things about both the Kane character as well as the man who plays him.  In fact, I don't recall saying much negative about him, other than he's limited as a ring technician.  I don't know what you are talking about.  For the record, I have heard Jacobs is a good guy.  I think he has done an excellent job with his character and kept what could have been a limited run gimmick going for a lot of years now.

With the recent comments made by Brooke Hogan about her dad getting into shape (which she seems to think will result in a return to the ring - as it has in the past) and with Steve Austin hype continuing that he will be the leader of the class for next years WM hall of fame, do you think that the Hogan vs. Austin is going to happen in some shape at next year's Wrestlemania?

No, I don't.  In the past, Hogan has tried to get the match made without ever doing the right thing and talking it over with Austin first.  Instead, he has gone through public channels, pretty much cementing that it would never come off.  I don't think that Austin will do the job for Hogan so if the Hulkster wants the match to happen, he will have to agree to do the job for Austin to even consider it.  Let's just say I am skeptical as to whether that will ever happen.  As for Brooke, keep in mind that a while back she said that her parents weren't breaking up, after they themselves announced that they were!  She isn't the most reliable source out there.

Where the Top Guns in the AWA just a cheap substitution for the Midnight Rockers after they left for New York, kinda like when Bo and Luke Duke were switched out on the Dukes of Hazzard?

That was 20 years ago but as I remember, that is probably a fair assumption.  The AWA was dying at that point and just looking to latch on to whatever they could.
