I read one time where Stan Hansen broke the neck of Bruno Sammartino during a match in 1973 or 1974 with the use of his famous clothesline move called The Lariat. Is this true? Did this actually happen?
Bruno did suffer a broken neck during a match with Stan Hansen, but the idea that it was the lariat that broke it is actually not true. Bruno suffering the broken neck from a botched bodyslam attempt, but a storyline was created where it was the lariat that broke it to build up Hansen's finisher.
With WWE moving the Cyber Sunday exclusively to text message voting that people have to pay for. Could they get in legal trouble if they "rig" the voting so choices they want win? Isn't misleading people into giving you money by having them vote on something they have no control in deciding against the law? What are your thoughts?
I don't know what the legalities of it is, but WWE could always just place a number of "votes" themselves to sway it any way they want, since there is no limit on voting.
TV Land has a program called Myth and Legends exploring unusual stories and questions involving shows and personalities within music, TV, film and so forth. Rumors and reports that people had heard about and wondered if they were indeed true. Have you ever heard of any wrestling stories or rumors that you assumed were true? Actually happened? For example: It was said that the late Killer Kawalski took an ear off wrestler Yukon Eric many years ago. Was it true? Did it actually happen? Have you ever heard of some crazy, outstanding story that you thought was a total falsehood but was indeed true or a story many thought was true turned out to be false? Any urbon legends in wrestling?
There's tons of urban legends in wrestling, many of which are totally fabricated. The one I have heard the most, which is not true, is that there were two Ultimate Warriors because "the first one died". As for Yukon Eric, he did lose part of his ear in the ring during a match with Kowalski. Eric's ear, already badly cauliflowered, had part of it rip off during the match after Kowalski busted it open during a kneedrop. However, Kowalski did not tear off his ear, and it wasn't his whole ear either.
I was watching TNA's Impact! recently and a feeling came over me. I felt ...bored. I actually felt bored watching it. Its the same thing every time. The announcers screaming. Referees looking like their heads were cut off. I'm sure everyone was trying but I was not enjoying it. Maybe I'm crazy but I wonder if TNA needs to shake things up. Is TNA on the verge of being....boring?
Whether TNA is boring or not is a personal preference. I can say that when TNA has the announcers screaming for the whole show, it becomes a bit of a "white noise" situation. If everything is "important", than nothing stands out, and it all sounds the same.
With the success of Dancing with the Stars what wrestler, male or female, would you love to see take part in it? Can you imagine Stephanie and Triple H on it? Suggestions?
Great Khali, hands down. Seriously, someone like Theodore R. Long or Lilian Garcia would probably do really well on it.
