My question is about the WWE's two newest international signings, Dos Caras Jr. and Naofumi Yamamoto, do either speak enough English to cut promos, or will the be silent/managed characters, and also with either be going into developmental, or will they likely be going straight to the main roster at some point?
Both men speak English, Caras very well, but I still wouldn't expect either to get much in the way of promo time. As for going to developmental, I imagine both will go to FCW for at least a few matches before starting on the main roster.
Lucha star Dos Caras Jr. has confirmed he's signed with World Wrestling Entertainment. He's currently the top titleholder in CMLL I never heard of him. Where do I go to learn about him? Will WWE let him keep his real/wrestling name?
Dos Caras Jr. is the son of Dos Caras and the nephew of Mil Mascaras, a true masked legend in Mexico, Texas and Japan who still wrestles from time to time. I think your best bet to learn more about him is plugging his name into You Tube to check out some of his work. As for his name, I could see him keeping Dos Caras, although WWE is infamous for not wanting "Jr." at the end of any names.
Now that Mick Foley is working with TNA, do you see him having any sort of program/interaction with Abyss? I know Foley has supposedly signed a 'short-term' contract but, while this is wrestling and suspension of disbelief (even to an absurd degree) is a given, I just don't see how TNA can ignore or avoid the obvious similarities between Abyss and the Mankind character. While WWE owns the Mankind name and, probably, all likeness rights and intellectual property associated with that persona, I would think that, at the very least, the two would have to be aware of one another. Having a tie-in between the two could only strengthen Abyss and perhaps Foley (either as a mentor or foe) could do for Abyss what one of his mentors, Terry Funk, was able to do for many wrestlers in the original ECW. I'm not advocating loads of in-ring, wrestling time for Foley, but I cannot see how keeping him at the top of the card and involved primarily with characters established in other promotions would give TNA any lasting return on the investment they've made in him (which can't be a small one) once he inevitably moves on. Thoughts?
I would be very surprised if Foley's entire TNA run goes by without some reference by him to Abyss, even if only in a comment during a promo. It's painfully obvious a lot of Abyss' character was taken from the Mankind model. That said, given the way Abyss has been booked lately, I don't know if Foley's time should be wasted on him. It's not like Abyss is even taken seriously as a mid-card character at this point, so while I agree that Foley should be used to "give the rub" to someone, I don't know if Abyss is that person.
My question is very simple. What is with Booker T and the accents?! I mean, in WWE he started trying to sound royal. Then he moves on to TNA and sounds normal, then develops a lisp, now he sounds Jamaican?! To quote The Hurricane, "WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?!?!"
I was wondering the same thing while watching TNA Impact this week. The faux British accent from his "King" days was one thing, and it looked like he was reverting back to it in TNA, but then suddenly he comes out sounding like Sebastian the crab from "Little Mermaid"! Maybe this is Booker's way to make his accents seem even more fake to the audience, but constantly changing it.
Maybe this is a stupid question, but I have always wondered about wrestlers that need glasses or contacts. I assume they wear contacts when wrestling, but it seems like they would always be getting shifted or knocked out. Is good, un-aided vision a "must" for wrestlers?
I've known some wrestlers who wear glasses or contacts outside the ring, but just work with their unassisted vision in the ring. I've also known wrestlers who do work with contacts in. Then you have the legendary Stan Hansen, who many will tell you was "blind as a bat" without his glasses, and as a result, he would swing his arm for a lariat and rip your head off because "he didn't know when it was going to connect".
