PWINSIDER Q&A: HULK HOGAN, SHAWN MICHAELS, STING, CAGE MATCH ON RAW AND MORE

By Buck Woodward on 2008-09-18 10:00:00

I know every few years Vince McMahon likes to throw some money towards Hulk Hogan for one more match, and nostalgia pop, and hopefully a little extra revenue in return. Considering Hogan's legal situations, it stands to reason that while he doesn't need it an extra source of income would not hurt the Hulkster at some point in the future. What do you think of the idea of Hogan being brought back one more time, but with the angle being that a young guy wants to end Hulkamania, then Hogan does the clean job (yes, Vince would have to toss a lot of MONEY towards Hulk) when the eventual match occurs? I am sure such a rub could do wonders on say a Ted DiBiase or another young star with a hot future, especially if the payoff match occurs at WrestleMania.

Hulk is going to have to be wiped out, probably more than once, before he becomes desperate enough to be willing to do a job at Wrestlemania. Remember, Hogan wasn't willing to do a job in a three match series with Shawn Michaels, and reportedly wouldn't be willing to lay down to make a mega-payday with Steve Austin.

How's this for an idea for Charlie Haas? He keeps up the different gimmick idea but tag teams with the same wrestler.

I guess he could do that, but I think it works better when Haas is making fun of, not teaming with the person he is imitating.

Is it possible CM Punk is being held as a back up wrestler if Michaels f****s himself up at Unforgiven?

I'm not sure what you mean by "back up wrestler".  Michaels is wrestling Jericho at No Mercy in a ladder match.  If you mean what would happen if Michaels gets injured, my guess is they would go right to a finish.  I don't see CM Punk being involved at all.

I was just reading the instruction booklet for TNA Impact! And it stated that Sting was a 2 time World Champion but that Scott Steiner was a 6 time world champion. I don't remember Steiner ever holding the TNA belt, so are they counting his WCW reigns but not Sting or Booker T's WCW reigns? Or did I miss something when TNA first started with Scott Steiner?

I am going to guess that they are only counting Sting's NWA and TNA World Title reigns during TNA's existence, not his WCW title runs, while in the case of Scott Steiner, they are counting his WCW title reigns, since he never held the TNA belt.

I saw Raw last night. Why was the cage match for the WWE World Championship between champion Chris Jericho defending it against former champion CM Punk put on first? I very much expected it to be the main event. The very last match on Raw. Were you disappointed on how the match ended? Previous cage matches have ended more dramatically. Not this one, in my opinion. One more thing. Did you think announcer Michael Cole looked very much Vince McMahon the way he was dressed? The suit he wore and the very short hair. Vince McMahon, Jr. Possible storyline?

To answer your last question first, I don't think Michael Cole is trying to emulate Vince McMahon in the way he dresses.  The way he announces?  Well, that's another story.  As for the cage match, I thought it was very good, but I felt the "headbutt" looked weak, and came off more like an eye rake.  Still, a good bout and I didn't mind it opening the show, as it got things off and running, rather than the usual yakfest at the start of Raw.
