Whatever happened to wrestler Iron Mike Sharpe? I remember watching him in matches. He was a very imposing fellow. What wasn't he given more of a push? He had the size. Moved fast for a man his size. Strong. Tough. I recall him doing many jobs for others. Why no push? A waste.
The last I heard about Sharpe, he was living in the Hamilton, Ontario area.
No one seems to know what he is up to today and I know a few different
convention promoters have looked into using him without being able to track him
down. As far as his push, he did receive one early in his career and was
regularly on the upper portions of WWF cards during the Bob Backlund title reign
era. Later, he was used as a veteran who worked and did jobs on the
undercard.
I read where WWE's newest diva Brie Bella during a match would go under the
ring where her twin sister Nicole would take her place. I think this has been
going on during the two matches between Brie Bella and Victoria on Smackdown.
What is the purpose of this? How long is this going to continue? Will Nicole
eventually team with her twin sister Brie in future tag matches?
The purpose is to introduce two new characters with a unique gimmick. I would think that kind of speaks for itself.
What can you tell me about the "Duke of Dorchester" Pete Doherty? I've seen him pop up a few times on some programs on WWE 24/7. From what I can gather he was some sort of 80s jobber from the New England area who developed something of a cult following. In fact on one Boston Garden card I noticed the scoreboard say "Welcome members of the Pete Doherty fan club". I didn't find any info on Wikipedia so hoping you guys can share some info on his career and current whereabouts.
Pete Doherty was just a local worker who regularly appeared on the Boston area cards. Like some of the other undercard characters of the era, since he was around so much, he gathered a small fan following and I believe even did some commentary on house shows that were televised, but was never a major part of the WWF's touring schedule. He still lives in MA and did a convention appearance up there a few years back.
Has Torrie Wilson fully recovered from the surgery on her back? Any chance she might return to the WWE? Before her back problems, was there a plan for Torrie to win the WWE Womens title?
There were no plans for Wilson to be Women's champion and her back has not recovered to the point she'll return to the ring. Wilson is for all intents and purposes retired as an in-ring performer. I think it's time to give up the ghost when it comes to hoping for a WWE return.
On the most recent TNA Impact! there watch a match between Awesome Kong and Roxxi Laveaux. It was a match where everything from a shopping cart to trash can lids were used. It was brutal. Tough. Incredible. Both women gave it their all. My highest admiration goes to Laveaux. From being thrown up hard against a wall to being hit by a metal chair causing a ugly gash with blood spilling out on to the ring to being power bombed by Kong. Some have speculated who will take Gail Kim's place as head of the Knockouts. My vote goes to Roxxi Laveaux. Who would you select? Laveaux? Taylor Wilde? ODB? What was your impression of the match and the women themselves?
The match was a lot of fun, as the Knockouts division usually is as it's the best thing regularly presented on TNA's Impact. In terms of babyfaces, I would say ODB is the most over and therefore the most likely to fill Kim's void.
