PWINSIDER Q&A: TRIPLE H AS A HEEL, MICK FOLEY IN TNA, HALL OF FAME AND MORE

By Buck Woodward on 2008-09-13 10:00:00

I've been re-watching this year's highlights recently, and noticed a question a couple of days ago regarding Sting and his current 'alignment'. I'm reminded of some years ago when they tried to turn Austin heel at a WrestleMania. The audience completely refused to accept the turn. I can easily see the same thing happening to TNA if they try to take Sting down the same road. What I am wondering is this: Do you think we are at the point where Triple H is in the same situation? I know that almost any Cena opponent gets a certain amount of 'face noise', because of those that will never cheer him, but I think HHH is close to that line where he has no choice but to ride out his career as a 'face'. I've heard several times that he prefers to be a heel, but he may not have a choice anymore. Opinion?

Triple H is definitely hard to turn heel at this point, but I don't think it is impossible.  I definitely think a feud against Jeff Hardy or The Undertaker would see Triple H as the lesser favorite amongst fans.

Question With Cactus Jack in TNA, do you see any significant role available to him other than the inevitable re-match with Sting? I've was always a huge Cactus fan, whether he was goofy, vicious, or psychotic. Whether he was 'heel' or 'face'. He's top 10 all-time in promos and brawling, and no matter what Ric Flair says, he's much more than a 'glorified stuntman'. As the 21st century has unfolded, however, I have been less enamored of Mick. With each 'comeback', he seems to become less tolerant of the 'quirks of the business', and more concerned with 'protecting his legacy' and 'getting his due' than match quality. I would automatically buy a TNA PPV with Sting vs. Cactus Jack, and that would be the first TNA PPV I have ever bought. What other role do you think could result in a worthwhile TNA run for him?

Personally, I would love to see Foley used as a color commentator, but seeing as Don West has been with the company since day one, I doubt they would think of replacing him.  I wouldn't mind seeing Foley cut a promo on Sting, Nash, Angle, etc. about how it is time to realize that Samoa Joe and AJ Styles are the "present", not the "future" and maybe the old guard needs to get out of the way.

I'm enjoying Triple H as world champion as it's been a while, but WWE has a tendency to keep the title on him for way too long. So my question is, do you think we have a lengthy Triple H reign ahead of us?

The way things have been presented on Smackdown lately, I would be surprised to see him lose the belt anytime soon.

This may sound like a strange question but, is there such a thing as a WWE Hall of Fame? A building housing the names, photos and profiles featuring the greats of wrestling from the late Sherri Martel to Ric Flair. When someone is accepted into the Hall, does it actually mean that they are recognized for their enormous contributions to wrestling at a black tie affair taped for eventual release on DVD? Is there an actual Hall of Fame? Any plans on creating such a place?

There is no physical WWE Hall Of Fame building, and no plans for building one at this time.  As for the Hall Of Fame event itself, it takes place every Wrestlemania weekend and is broadcast on TV and put out on DVD.

While watching WWE MSG Classics, I saw a Bruno Sammartino VS Larry Zbyszko match and was wondering, is that a wig of some sorts Bruno has on? If so, why did he decide to get it? To me, it looks like his career was winding down, so there was no need to have a LOOK for women.

Not a wig, just Bruno deciding he liked having big hair.
