Why does WWE not release the Hall of Fame ceremony separately each year like they did with WrestleMania 20? It seems to me like they would sell more copies of WrestleMania and the Hall of Fame each year separately like they could combined?
Part of it was WWE's desire to make Wrestlemania the best selling sports DVD of the year every year. They also felt that there was three audiences when it came to DVDs. One, the audience that buys everything WWE puts out. Then, there is the audience that is interested in only purchasing the current product. Third, is the audience that never buys the current product, but will buy nostalgia-based releases. So, by putting the Hall Of Fame with Wrestlemania at a higher price, they get all three groups to buy Mania, pushing it into the slot as the top-selling DVD. So, they'd rather combine buys for a higher ticketed Wrestlemania set than sell two cheaper sets that not every fan would buy.
I saw a women's match on Raw several weeks ago involving Mickie James and Katie Lea. At one point, Lea had James pinned after executing a suplex type move. The referee was right there within inches of the pin. He suddenly ran to the other side to begin his count. I found that unusual. Why didn't he start the count then? He was after all only inches away. Are referees instructed not to make the count right away in certain situations? I've noticed at different times when a referee would, instead of counting the pin immediately, just move to the other side and do that. Any idea as to why?
It might have been a case where the referee wanted to be out of the way of the kickout, since that would have disrupted the flow of the match, something referees are very cognizant of not doing.
With the recent passing of the legendary wrestler Walter "Killer" Kowalski, what is the possibility of his name being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame?
Killer Kowalski was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 1996, the last of the Hall Of Fame ceremonies until their brought back the concept in 2004. He was inducted into the Hall by Triple H.
I have been most impressed by the matches of late involving the WWE Divas especially those of Kelly Kelly, Maryse, Candice Michelle and Michelle McCool. I saw Candice Michelle in that six girl tag match on Raw. She looked great. Do you think the improvement has something to do with the success of TNA's Knockouts? The efforts of trainer Fit Finlay? The women themselves? All of the above? Thoughts?
I think a lot of it has to do with WWE simply focusing more on quality in-ring work, so the ladies that you see in the ring are the ones that can cut it. They are working harder on house shows, spending more time training and in general just focusing on making a better in-ring product.
If the movie The Wrestler starring Mickey Rourke does good ( and so far reviews say it's Rourke's comeback movie) do you think it might bring people to start watching wrestling once they see what being a wrestler/ being in wrestling is like?
There certainly might be a trickle down effect if the movie does well, as there have been occasions where films have renewed interests in the industries they are set in.
