PWINSIDER Q&A: WWE'S OWNERSHIP OF THE THREE FACES OF MICK FOLEY'S CHARACTERS, STING VS. THE GIANT, R-TRUTH AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2008-09-07 10:00:00

Does Mick Foley own the name Cactus Jack? He used that personna/character several years and many places before he worked for Vince and the WWF/E.

The only persona Mick Foley couldn't use outside of WWE would be Mankind, which was created by the company.  Mick created Cactus Jack and used it for his first wrestling match, which was many years before he signed with the company in 1996, so WWE couldn't claim ownership unless Foley signed it over and there's no way he was that stupid.  Obviously he can use his real name and one would think he has claims to Dude Love, although why he would want to use it is beyond me.

With R-Truth (Ron Killings) back in the WWE, will he make a impact, and what is he relationship with Vince?

They given Killings a few weeks worth of vignettes and wins already, and the last person who had a similar introduction was Kofi Kingston and given how he's been used, I would say they are going to try and see if things click with Killings.  I haven't heard anything regarding a relationship with Vince McMahon, but if he didn't like Killings' work, there's no way he would have approved the hiring.

If someone wants to become a wrestler, they get training at a wrestling school. So if WWE wants to focus more on entertainment, why don't they require some acting lessons for wrestlers to make them more skilled in that area? It makes sense if they are suppose to tell a story both in the ring and on the mic at times.

Some wrestlers have taken classes on their own time to improve, but acting and pro wrestling are two different entities.  Acting is more implosion and using your body language and facials in subtle ways while wrestling is more over-exaggerated over the top style physicality.  Still, WWE does coach performers on their mic work and has Dusty Rhodes down in Florida regularly doing just that.

Has female wrestler Krissy Vaine retired or is she still wrestling? Why hasn't TNA signed her up?

She's pretty much on the outskirts of the business.  She may be doing some small independents, but I can't recall any in recent months.  As far as why TNA wouldn't sign her, not to be insulting, but just as she made her WWE TV debut, she walked out of the company, so I could see why TNA would be cautious towards investing any time and money towards her.  Who's to say she wouldn't do the same for another company?

I was recently reading through some of you Q and A's and I noticed you said that during Sting's year and a half time of not wrestling that he worked a few house shows against the Giant.  Now The Giant got kicked out of the nWo in December of 96, basically the same time the Crow gimmick was just getting going.  He was then one of the top babyfaces for WCW in 97 as they fought against the nWo, so why would Sting, the top babyface who never wrestles, have matches against one of the only other top babyfaces in the company?  Why wouldn't he wrestle one of the upper nWo guys, like Savage, Hall, or Nash?  The only thing I can think of is that it would be to play up on the "Free Agent" deal but it still makes no sense considering it was house shows.  Explanation?

They were the only star names that would work house shows.
