PWINSIDER Q&A: SHELTON BENJAMIN, HARDYS, RVD AND MORE

By Buck Woodward on 2008-08-29 10:00:00

I was just watching the great match on Smackdown between Finlay and Shelton Benjamin and I noticed on his left boot, somewhat hidden by all the gold, was a yellow ribbon which if I'm correct is in support of our troops over in Iraq. I was curious if he had any connections with someone fighting for our freedom or if it was just a personal choice for him supporting our efforts in Iraq.

Shelton has the yellow ribbon to show support for the troops.  From what I understand, Shelton does have friends who are in the armed forces.

Someone mentioned on an earlier Q&A about a Hardy vs Hardy Wrestlemania match. Would it make more sense to have both win a world title, then have someone like Gregory Helms (who is a lifelong friend as documented in the Hardy's DVD) win the ECW title? The show would close with the Hardy's & Helms celebrating in a similar fashion to now seemingly tainted celebration Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero shared. I think that could make the show great and the Wrestlemania DVD even easier to market since everybody seems to love the Hardys.

I think you're probably stretching it with Helms, who hasn't even returned to the ring yet.  However, if Jeff stays on the right track, I could see a day when Jeff and Matt (probably briefly) hold the top belts at the same time.

I was wondering about RVD. Did he leave on bad terms with WWE and will we ever see him back with the WWE?

Van Dam wasn't happy with WWE when he left, but it wasn't on bad terms, and he took them up on the offer to come back for the Raw special last year.  It's not inconceivable he might come back to WWE, but right now he has far more important issues to deal with as his wife kicks the crap out of cancer.

My question is about the Batista and the late Eddie Guerrero. Before he past away, Eddie and Batista were tag teaming and doing there thing. What was the plan for these two. Was WWE making a future match for these guys or were they just gonna remain the way they were?

At some point, it was inevitable that they'd end up wrestling again, but I believe WWE planned on keeping them as partners for at least a little longer at the time.

I am really tired of this So Cal Val and Jay Lethal and Sonjay love triangle the have going on do you think they should already stop this angle and grow up... I mean move on?

Absolutely, and I'm a huge fan of Lethal and Dutt's work in the ring.  This storyline has dragged on for too long, and went from cute and entertaining to stupid in pretty short order.
