Former NWA, WCW and WWF World champion Ric Flair made his first post-WWE appearance today at the NWA Legends convention in Charlotte, NC.  Flair and legendary wrestling announcer Bob Caudle officially opened the weekend, with Flair giving a speech saying how happy he was to finally take part in the NWA Legends event as previous years, he had been prevented by scheduling and contractual obligations.

Flair noted that promoter Greg Price was one of the best when it came to the nostalgia conventions and that he was thrilled to see so many names he hadn't had the chance to see and speak to over the last several years.  It was said that today was the first time Flair and Caudle had seen each other in 16 years and Flair joked that Bob was the only one of them from that era still married today.  Flair said he was very privledged to have started his career in the Carolinas and was touched to see so many familar faces at the convention that he remembered from ringside all those years.

Caudle asked Flair if the rumors of his retirement were true and Flair reiterated that he was done with wrestling, but would always be involved with the wrestling business because the fans made him everything he was. After addressing the crowd, Flair went on to take photos and sign autographs for fans who had paid $100 apiece.  Flair was said to have been very personable and gracious to those he met.
