PWINSIDER Q&A: JOHN MORRISON, MATT STRIKER, CHRIS HARRIS, VICTORIA AND MORE

By Buck Woodward on 2008-08-08 10:00:00

While I am glad to see C.M. Punk make it as World Heavyweight Champion, I'm curious to know why John Morrison didn't get that opportunity. Both guys made a name for themselves in the ECW brand, yet Morrison won the ECW Title first and had major backing from management as well. My feeling is Punk got the world title as a Plan B after Jeff Hardy was suspended, but why do you think they didn't go with the backstage favorite John Morrison instead?

Obviously, WWE felt Punk was ready to be given the shot, while Morrison, who is seen as having a lot of potential, has been kept in a tag team role in recent months, while occasionally being put back into a singles role.  I could see Morrison getting his shot, but WWE will have to put him in a sustained singles role on Raw or Smackdown first.

After watching Mike Adamle stutter and stumble through his opening statement on RAW, reading off his cue cards and everything, and then later on watching the brief introduction from Matt Striker, I thought to myself: "Why isn't Matt Striker the GM of RAW?" I mean, following Adamle's clumsily delivered lines, isn't it obvious that Striker showed more talent on the mic with his few short sentences than Adamle did during the entire show? Then, why not use the amazing mic skills of Striker as the GM, rather than wasting them and squashing him against the likes of Kane? Don't you agree that Adamle should be "demoted" and put in a different position within the company, allowing Striker to really find his spot as RAW's GM? Striker is, if you ask me, one of the best talkers in the WWE at the moment, and if his WWE future holds nothing more than the unenviable task of jobbing to the big guys.. then there's something wrong with WWE for not realizing this and taking advantage of it.

Well, WWE at least realized the skill of Striker by putting him in as color commentator for ECW.  I'm not an Adamle fan, and I actually mentioned Striker as a possible GM a few weeks ago, but in hindsight, I would much rather have Striker talking as a commentator for an hour every week on ECW and only have to deal with limited doses of Adamle on Raw.

With Chris Harris' recent release from WWE, and somewhat sketchy departure from TNA, what future in wrestling do you see for Chris Harris?

A lot of independent shows, and if he's smart, he will try to get a spot in Japan, where he can improve his skills and hope for another shot at WWE.  Given the way he left TNA, I would be surprised if they took him back, unless they want to job him to Shark Boy or something.  Still, never say never.

Lemme start this by saying that I am a faithful viewer of RAW every Monday night (Either Live or DVR) and I have to say I am happy to see the tide turning and the writing getting better. With that comes my question. Why Freddie Prinze? Ummm, lemme see he's an actor, not a writer if I remember correctly right? So, my question is why him?

I think it boils down to two things.  One, he was willing to take the job.  Two, it gives WWE a "Hollywood name" to show they are part of the mainstream entertainment world.

What is going on with Victoria? Why is she jobbing to Maria?

Because WWE wanted Maria to look good in her debut, and Victoria has spent most of her WWE career making inferior workers look good and putting them over.
