PWINSIDER Q & A: AUSTIN IN THE HALL, 3D AND CHRISTIAN BACK TO WWE, WWE-HOLLYWOOD, DOES ADAMLE DESERVE THE ABUSE AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2008-08-06 10:00:00

For all of WWE wanting to be accepted into mainstream Hollywood, they should certainly take a cue from them when it comes to building things up.  The Dark Knight was built up in spectacular fashion for 2 years and when it finally happened, the payoff was enormous. Why do you think the WWE chooses to blow their load so soon into a buildup rather than doing it like the movies do it?

There are a lot of reasons for the failure to properly and effectively have a long term build to feuds and matches.  For one thing, they have to produce TV every week to build up monthly (and sometimes more frequent than that) PPVs.  They get caught up in the "keeping everything going at 80 miles an hour" syndrome and they often don't take a step back and look at the big picture.  They also have TV networks and stockholders to answer to that they didn't in the past, back when they were doing four PPVs a year.  Now, they are constantly hunting for that next buyrate or rating, and things get wasted in the process.  A perfect example of this is the first John Cena-Batista match.  Internally, the feeling was that is should have been built up strongly for months and happened at WrestleMania.  Then suddenly, they threw it together and put it on SummerSlam with less than a month to build-up anticipation.  In the past, this never would have happened.  I think it's a really stupid move on their part, especially since they already had a strong main event in the return of The Undertaker in a Hell In A Cell match with Edge.  But, Vince McMahon changes his mind a lot.  I mean a real lot, so that is the nature of the beast now.  I couldn't agree with you more in that it's something that they should change but as long as Vince thinks otherwise, they won't.  In my opinion, it will lead to them continuing to waste opportunities.

Do you ever think that guys in TNA like Christian or Team 3D would ever go back to WWE?

It all depends on what they are offered.  Christian went to TNA because he wanted an easier schedule.  I also think the fact that WWE brought him to the precipice of getting a top tier push only to take it away factored in to his decision.  If he was offered a big money deal by WWE, with talk of a big push, I could see him going back.  As for Team 3D, their contract expires very soon and I would expect that they will contact WWE.  They never really wanted to leave the company in the first place but the sides couldn't agree on a contract.  So, it wouldn't surprise me if they went back.  As for other workers in TNA, it all depends on what they are offered.  Money rules the roost in most situations.

I hear rumor of WWE Fans thinking that Stone Cold Steve Austin Should be inducted in the upcoming 2009 WWE Hall of Fame during Wrestlemania 25 Weekend in Houston TX. to be Honest he's ready yet maybe only a several more years. I still think there a possibly he could return for one more match before he's done for good what you think.

I left this question as is for a reason.  Folks, PLEASE take a second to spell and grammar check questions before you send them.  I can't tell you how many get deleted because of bad grammar and/or our inability to decipher what the question is.  We don't mind a little clean up but questions like these are a pain in the butt.

Now, where Austin is concerned I think him going in the Hall next year makes perfect sense.  He is, for all intents and purposes, retired and Mania is in Texas.  He's in his forties and he has a neck problem that could lead to paralysis if he is injured again so you can't ever think he will make a real comeback to full-time status.  I say it's certainly time for him to go into the Hall, even if he were to have a last match at a later date.

Recently, I heard that TNA released Dustin Runnels. Do you think the WWF/E would bring back Dustin for a possible feud with his brother Cody and his partner Ted Dibiase Jr. for the World Tag Team Championship with Duggan or even Dusty Rhodes as Dustin's tag team partner?

Honestly, at this point in time, I don't see a lot left in the tank for Dustin.  It seems to me like his time has come and gone.  If anything, I could see them bringing him in for a short term deal where Cody gets heat on him for beating him down but I don't want to see a full-fledged program between them.  But, if they choose to do it, they could play it up as personal with the family angle so if they did, it should at least be interesting.

I know Mike Adamle isn't very good at announcing but is it fair to him to have his coworkers add to it with cheapshots and blow off's of his announcing. Sure some may be justified but there are times while watching I'm saying to myself "was that needed?" from a Tazz comment or this past Monday from J.R. when Adamle said Cena has to watch his partner and opponents. And J.R.'s response was that "that'll be hard to do" (although it may have been worded differently, I cant remember). Was J.R. a bit out of line when the statement Adamle used has been said millions of times before and was actually a valid comment with the storyline going on. Sure he isn't that good but is the cheapshots needed. Those guys make the show better but insulting coworkers live on TV is a bit much. What's your thoughts?

If I stick a fork into an electric socket once because I don't know any better, I would expect people to feel sorry for me.  If I do it on a daily basis, I would expect people to think I am a freaking moron.  Adamle falls into the latter category.  He has made the same mistakes repeatedly, as well as the same stupid comments.  At what point do you not learn that you are a major league screw up?  Whenever that point is, he has more than surpassed it.

I think that Tazz is a saint for not ripping the guy more than he did.  How would you like to be stuck carrying someone who made no effort to improve, especially when everyone in the company knows that he needed to do so?  His poor work made Tazz's job harder and that isn't fair to Tazz.  As for the JR comment, I don't remember exactly what it was but I do remember that Adamle made yet another ridiculously stupid comment and I was thinking how dumb it was just as JR heeled him.  Again, if Adamle can't learn on his own, I have no problem with his cohorts making fun of him in an effort to get him to pick his game up.
