PWINSIDER Q & A: SMACKDOWN'S NEW HOME, HHH VS. FLAIR, RANDY ORTON, DUGGAN IN THE HALL OF FAME AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2008-07-28 10:00:00

Is WWE at all concerned about the lack of availability of My Network TV?

I think that is fair to say that they are concerned.  Any time you move to an outlet with lower distribution than the one that you are currently using it's an issue.  But, once CW dropped Smackdown, the only real competitors for the show were WGN and MyNetworkTV.  Of the two, they picked the one with more exposure and made the best of the situation.  They didn't have any other option so I think while they may be concerned as to how it will affect the audience when the show moves, they also know that they picked the best road that was available to them.

I did my research Triple H is a 12 time world champion and Ric Flair is a 16 time world champion. Now Triple H is 20 years younger than Ric Flair, so do you think he will be hold the world championship when he retires, and if not be a better wrestler than Flair ever was?

First off, I appreciate Triple H's work and his legacy but I think Flair is the greatest wrestler of all time so I don't think H will ever surpass him.  As for the title reigns, that could go either way.  HHH may want to hold that distinction and if he does, he probably will be able to do it.  But, given how much H respects Flair, I could see him not wanting to break that record as well.  My guess is that he will not break it, out of respect to his friend if nothing else.

Do you think Hacksaw Jim is hurting his chances for the Hall of Fame the longer he keeps wrestling?

Since the WWE Hall of Fame criteria really boils down to whoever Vince McMahon and the WWE brass want in, I don't think Duggan's continuing to wrestle will have any affect on whether he gets in or not.  If they like him enough to have him work at this stage of his life it probably increases his chances, if anything.

I've just read that Pro Wrestling Illustrated have named Randy Orton No.1 on their infamous PWI 500 list. Tell me someone's playing a prank on me? Because if this is true then what does that say about how far out of touch the guys at PWI are?

Yes, that was their pick for the top wrestler for the year.  You have to remember that they are a magazine that markets itself to the fans that are not as discerning as those that read this site.  They play along with storylines, often honor kayfabe and don't delve very far behind the scenes.  In their way of doing things, a guy that held the title for much of their year would rate highly.  I think what it says is that you are better off getting your information from this site than their magazine.

What are your thoughts on the new ECW title, and idea of having one in general. ...and I know it's just happened, but doesn't them just giving it to Henry show a lack of effort on Creative's part?

I don't see what you mean.  Henry won a match at Night Of Champions against Kane and Big Show to win the title.  All they did after that was give him a new belt when they decided to debut it.  Is it any different that them doing the Skull belt for Steve Austin or the Spinner for John Cena?  I don't think so.  As for the actual belt, I think it's looks pretty cool.  If you are asking about Henry as champ, I don't have any problem with him being the top guy on the number three brand.
