I've been watching wrestling since 1984, starting with Georgia and WCCW on satellite and quickly discovering WWF and NWA soon after that. I didn't get involved with TWA/ECW, due to living on west coast and having poor cable options, but have seen many moments from them later on VCR or DVD. I still watch WWE, and have tried TNA, but have never gotten into it. Over the 24 years, every time a wrestling moment makes me emotional, my friends and family laugh at me. They can't see how anyone can invest emotion into pro wrestling. Well, I know that you guys can, and do. After Flair's 3-day weekend this year (HOF, WM24, Raw), what would you put 2nd on the list of wrestling's most emotional moments? On my list of 2nd is: Chris Adams vs. Gino Hernandez Hair vs. Hair; Hogan is the 3rd outsider; Piper sets Hogan straight on who's an Icon; and Hogan slams Andre at WM3.
Watching Ric Flair exit the ring for the final time is certainly near the top of any list of emotional moments in wrestling. I never really thought of it in terms of a ranking, but one of my favorites would be Tommy Dreamer winning the ECW Title. While some dismiss it as a "token gesture" since Dreamer lost the belt moments after winning it, I saw it as a moment of recognition for everything Dreamer had done for the company. Another emotional moment, which in hindsight is now greatly tarnished due to what has happened since, was seeing Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero standing in the ring at Wrestlemania as the top two champions in the company. It was a feeling of vindication for fans who believed they could be headliners at the top of the industry. Personally, one of my top ones, which obviously has no meaning to anyone else, was getting to just stand in Budokan Hall after years of watching tapes of great matches that took place there.
So from what I understand Tony Atlas complained during his consulting session at ECW that CM Punk "taped his wrists and exposed the business". My question is this, and maybe it's stupid... but how does taping your wrists expose the business? Or are these two separate complaints that have nothing to do with each other? Either way, I have no idea what he's talking about.
First of all, it wasn't at ECW. It was actually when Atlas was visiting WWE Developmental, and CM Punk, who was the ECW Champion, was in the locker room. Atlas, having no clue who Punk was, commented that he shouldn't be taping his hands unless he's in a "taped fist match" and that having his fists taped exposed the gimmick (and business) of a taped fist. Atlas then made the comment that Punk would never get on TV with his hands taped. Obviously, Atlas came off looking out of touch and ill-informed.
Do you think old video tapes made by RF Video of ECW before ECW had TV and PPV's worth anything? Do you think there is a market for it in the dvd era? How much would you pay for used copies? Do you think it will go for collector item like prices being rare and people might wanna watch the real (original) ECW (back when they were Eastern instead of Extreme-yeah that old) or do you think it should be sold at a cheap price being video is an old format and dvds are in?
I don't see you making a million dollars off your old tapes, if that is what you are asking. Because of the "no-frills" look of ECW videos, it isn't like they are nice collector pieces, the way an old WWF Coliseum Video might be. Plus, it's not like ECW footage is hard to come by, as many have been trading/selling it for years, well into the era of recordable DVDs.
Do you have any idea what other stars think of HHH? Obviously HBK, Hall and Nash are friends of his but what about The Rock, Undertaker Mick Foley and Austin? Did they look at him as a legit superstar or someone who gravy trained off of the boss's daughter?
While some will certainly point out his personal relationship with the McMahon's as a reason for his success, most realize that he has also worked hard and earned his spot on the top of cards. I've never heard of any other current top stars in WWE feeling Triple H "gravy trained" to the top. In the case of Mick Foley, I think many would state that he is responsible for Triple H "breaking through" and being seen as a top star.
If two WWE stars date one another and then breakup- do they have to wait 90 days before they can date another WWE star?
Nope.
(No, this is not a serious question in case you're wondering)
