NUTS & BOLTS: BRET HART'S AUTOBIOGRAPHY, JUSTIN CREDIBLE VS. JERRY LYNN, LOTS OF CZW TITLE CHANGES AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2008-07-15 12:25:08

This column was originally to be posted yesterday, but Internet issues prevented that, so there may be another Nuts & Bolts later today. Enjoy!

Bret Hart's autobiography will be released this Fall in the United States.  Hart will be having a book signing tour.  The only date I've heard so far is 10/11 at Bookends in Ridgewood, New Jersey.  If you haven't gotten a copy of the book from it's Canadian release, you really should go out of your way to read it.  In many ways, it restores a lot of the luster Hart lost from the way he was booked in WCW after leaving WWF and I don't think you'll find a more open, detailed book.  Not only did Hart leave everything out there in terms of his personal and professional life, but his source material were recordings he kept while on the road during his career, so you aren't going to find a book that is put together more strongly when it comes to wrestling autobiographies. Hart's fan base has always been a fiercely loyal lot and if you read this, you'll understand why.  It's an excellent read.

Lots of title changes over the weekend for Combat Zone Wrestling.  Drake Younger captured the CZW championship from Nick Gage at the promotion's return to Philadelphia, PA at the former ECW Arena.  Brain Damage, one of my favorite Death Match workers, defeated DJ Hyde to win the Iron Man championship.  New Tag champs were also crowned with Team Andrew defeating the Naptown Dragons.  Trent Acid worked the undercard, beating Devon Moore.

Jerry Lynn vs. Justin Credible in a revival of their feud for the ECW World title is scheduled to headline The Championship Wrestling Experience's Culmination II: Undisputed on 7/18 in Austintown, Ohio.  Credible hasn't really been seen or heard from since being released from WWE in 2006 when he was brought in to be part of the new ECW.  His most memorable appearance was losing to CM Punk at the lone Hammerstein Ballroom taping.  He's been training talent in Connecticut in recent months.

Former WWE star Nora "Molly Holly" Greenwald is slated to appear for Second City Wrestling on 7/19 in Midlothian, IL in a signing appearance.

Channeling his brother I guess, former NWA champion Dory Funk Jr. returned from retirement over the weekend, wrestling in a six man tag for his !Bang! promotion in Ocala, Florida, teaming with Osamu Nishimura and Johnny Magnum in a win over Shane Chung, Blain Rage, and Elvis Sharp.

The University Daily Kansas featured an article over the weekend on Mid-West indy performer Mark Sterling, looking at his attempts to try and make a name for himself and earn a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment at this link.

The Daily Star in Great Britain features an article on Brian Dixon's All Star Wrestling promotion.  Dixon's promotion is considered one of the last throwbacks to the old carny, touring days of the smaller territory eras where they run in smaller towns and tour endlessly.  Bryan Danielson often works for Dixon when he's in Great Britain and is quoted in the piece.  A lot of former WWF/WWE stars also appear on the tours.

The Morning Journal in Ohio features a look at the Pro Wrestling Ohio promotion at this link.

Finally, who's isn't overjoyed to hear that mashed potato wrestling is making its return?!?.
