PWINSIDER Q&A: MICK FOLEY IN HALL OF FAME, KURT & KAREN ANGLE, MICHELE MCCOOL AND MORE

By Buck Woodward on 2008-07-12 10:00:34

My question is regarding the blame for the bad state of the WWE product. Lots of blame is put on Vince and Creative and even the workers themselves and fans get blamed by some. However, shouldn't the road agents share some of the blame as well. I understand it is the road agents work to plan out spots and match finishes so if Creative can't do better than have us see the same guys fight over and over on each ppv shouldn't the Road Agents be able to plan the matches differently so they don't look like carbon copies of each other? It looks like if they were telling the workers "ok you do your spots then you do yours then the same reversal spots as always then go home". I have a lot of respect for what guys like Dean Malenko have accomplished in the ring but I think we'll be better off if the WWE just allowed the wrestlers to call it in the ring,

I supposed you could blame the agents, but I think that is a stretch.  The agents get their orders from WWE Creative, and when it comes to the top stars, the agents don't have a lot of input into their matches.  They can only work with what they are given, and if WWE Creative gives them crap to work with, there's not much they can do.  All they can do is make suggestions and put together the best match they can with what they are given. Also, if a wrestler doesn't have the ambition to learn new moves and spots, it's not like the agent can force them to learn some.

When Mick Foley gets inducted into the WWE HOF, do you see them doing a brawler/hardcore group of inductees, including but not limited to Bruiser Brody, Stan Hansen, Abdullah the Butcher and whoever else comes to mind?

I tend to doubt it.  WWE has never gone with a "theme" before, and I certainly don't see them inducting Abdullah (given his lack of relationship with the company) or Brody (since I can't imagine them pointing out Brody's untimely demise with Carlos Colon sitting in attendance).

I have a question regarding George "The Animal" Steele. What was he like outside the ring and in the locker room. Did he enjoy his role? I hear he was a teacher in Detroit.

Steele is nothing like his character in the ring was.  A very personable, intelligent man, I've never heard much negative about him.  He obviously enjoyed his role, and if he didn't want to be a wrestler he certainly could have just stuck to teaching.

Are Kurt and Karen Angle actually getting a divorce in real life or its it just a TNA storyline involving him, his wife and AJ Styles?

Strictly storyline.

I have been watching the career of Smackdown's Michelle McCool for some time now and I have been very impressed with her improvement in the ring. With continued training, do you see her becoming another Trish Stratus? I realize that it probably is an unfair question. There will never be another Trish. Given time and constant training, what is the possibility of McCool becoming the #1 female in both Raw and Smackdown?

It is an unfair questions.  Trish is seen as the best female performer of the decade by many, so comparing any babyface to her is just ridiculous.  However, she is already the top babyface female on Smackdown, and I would say she is only second to Mickie James overall right now in the babyface category.  Certainly, if she continues to improve, she could give Mickie a run for the top spot, but it will take a bit of work on her part.
