PWINSIDER Q&A: TNA WASTING CHRISTOPHER DANIELS?, UNDERTAKER'S BEST WRESTLEMANIA VICTORY, EDGE VS, TRIPLE H AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2008-07-20 10:00:00

Now that Edge has to deal with Triple H on Smackdown (both in storyline and in "real life"), do you think he will win the WWE Championship sooner then later or is this door temporarily shut?

I don't know if I see Edge getting the belt anytime soon, but I do believe there is a lot of money in Triple H chasing Edge to regain the belt, especially since when you really break it down, the characters both have a long history of manipulating others, so there's a fun back and forth that can be played up as they play mental chess with each other over the belt.

Now that it's July, I wanted to ask about WrestleMania.  The Undertaker is 16-0 there, and I carry the opinion that no matter how it could be done, giving a wrestler the "gift" of beating UT at WM would have a lot less impact on careers than allowing UT to retire with the streak intact.  I think the streak is a piece of marketing that WWE can continue to use from time to time to make even more money, and it's one of the best ways to reward one of your best workers of all time for all his years of service and locker room leadership.  Which match of the 16 is your current favorite?  For me, nothing has topped his bout with Triple H from WrestleMania X-Seven.

Of all the Wrestlemania matches, involving the Undertaker, I think the Batista match in Detroit at Wrestlemania 23 was my favorite, since no one expected it to be as memorable or as good as it was, and then they went out and had one of the best matches on the show and the better World title match when compared to John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels.  In all honesty, it should have closed Mania that year.

Could WWE's new TV deal in India be a bad thing? All those people in India who thought Khali was a hero will now see how bad he is in the ring.

I think his popularity there is more a case of national pride in the "hometown kid makes good" which he has in terms of success, if not in-ring progresssion.

Do you think that Christopher Daniels is being wasted as Curry man? Its a fun, comedy gimmick but I can help but feel The Fallen Angel could be used as a more meaningful wrestler. Maybe have a long running fued with Kaz to help his push.

No, I don't.  The reality is that due to poor creative booking, Daniels as the Fallen Angel had run its course after his feud with Sting was squashed.  He was in something of a rut, which they tried to change with the recreation of Triple X.  The idea of taking him off TV and using Curry Man really gave him new life and will also make the Fallen Angel character a lot fresher if and when they bring it back to a television role.  I like the Curry Man character myself.  It will never headline PPVs but it adds a sense of fun to the undercard, which is good, especially when it's someone who can go in the ring on top of bring some shenanigans.

Am I the only one who couldn't care less about Michelle McCool. I'm sure she tries very hard but I can help but find her a charisma free zone. The relentless pushing of her (i.e  JBL/Foley's commentary) along with her dull matches actually put me off her.

I'm in the middle with McCool.  I think she's a solid addition to the Smackdown brand and has strived very hard to improve, but to me, she's behind a lot of the other Divas in terms of uniqueness and work in the ring.  Still, I think she's more than earned her place in the company.
