California's Pro Wrestling Guerrilla announced that due to a number of talents becoming unavailable for the scheduled dates for PWG's Battle of Los Angeles event this year, they are postponing the multi-day tournament until the fall. The promotion will instead hold an "All Star Weekend 7" over the same weekend 8/28-8/29. Any fans who had booked travel into Los Angeles for the postponed tournament can request and receive free tickets to that event. I thought that was a pretty classy move. If you have booked your air travel to Los Angeles prior to June 25, 2008, please email support@prowrestlingguerrilla.com for information on how to receive your free tickets. British star Pac has been announced for the All Star Weekend events. PWG's next live event is 7/6 in Reseda, CA.
NWA champion Adam Pearce has debuted "The Adam Pearce Show" an audio feature on the National Wrestling Alliance website at www.NWAWrestling.com. The first edition is designed to build the title vs. title match Pearce has against ROH champion Nigel McGuinness this Friday in Chicago Ridge, IL.
The DeMoines Register in Iowa featured an article on the Waterloo, Iowa Wrestling Museum and Institute working to overcome the heavy damage it suffered in last week's flood. "It's mind-numbing," Museum head Mike Chapman said. "People who come here and see the damage are in shock. You look at your dream, 11 years of hard work by so many people, and it's gone. But when you think about what happened in Parkersburg, or the flooding in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, it puts it all in perspective." Chapman had initially been scheduled to step down from the Museum in July, but is now staying on indefinitely in order to help. As I wrote yesterday, the scheduled Hall of Fame weekend will still go on as planned this weekend. For more on the Museum, visit www.wrestlingmuseum.org.
Former WCW and WWF star Maxx Payne/Man Mountain Rock will be the guest tonight live at 8 PM EST on www.inyourheadonline.com.
The Times Online in Great Britain featured an interview with Lucha legend El Hijo Del Santo at this link, promoting a planned Lucha event at the London Roundhouse. Thanks to Cameron Shepherd for sending the article along. Reading the article really makes me wish someone would promote Lucha here in the New York City area, as attending the July 1994 AAA house show in the Theatre at Madison Square Garden still ranks as one of the best live shows I'd ever seen when it came to crowd atmosphere and reaction. There's something about being probably one of ten Caucasian males in the crowd as Art Barr, Eddy Guerrero and Jake Roberts incite a Latin audience that you really can't convey in words. Just a crazy, surreal scene unlike anything I've seen before or since.
The San Bernandino Sun featured an article on a local attorney, Loredana Nesci, who had received criticism for some theatrical antics of late. The wrestling connection here is that according to the article, she attempted to win the 2003 WWE Diva Search.
The Regina Leader-Post in Canada featured an article on Canadian indy worker Phil Koldyk, who wrestled as Titan Tower for High Impact Wrestling at this link.
Lance Hoyt will be working for PCW in Arlington, Texas on 6/28, facing PCW champ Mike Foxx. PCW is the promotion run by the "Bussey Bunch" from the short-lived TLC reality series.
