PWINSIDER Q&A: HULK HOGAN GETTING OVER AS A BAYFACE, WHATEVER HAPPENED TO TORI FROM THE ATTITUDE ERA, JOEY STYLES, THUGANOMICS & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2008-06-29 10:00:00

What can you tell me about the first Tori in WWF/E not Torrie Wilson from WCW? Did the other Tori have a last name? What is she doing now?

You are thinking of the Tori portrayed by female wrestler Teri Poch, who had previously wrestled as Terri Power for the old POWW promotion.  Since she departed WWF, she's been living in the Portland area but has no interest in professional wrestling and I've heard she's declined invitations to do interviews and appearances, so it's a case of someone moving on to the next stage of their life.

It seems like Hulk Hogan spent most, if not all, of the beginning of his career as a heel. How exactly did he transform into a babyface? Did the crowd turn him due to the popularity of Rocky 3, or did Vince do some sort of angle to accomplish the deed?

Hogan's appearance in Rocky helped cement him as a babyface, but his charisma and presence is what really made fans take a liking to him while he was working for the AWA.  There was no real "babyface" turn to think of, although when he returned to the WWF in the early 1980s after previously having a heel run, he rescued Bob Backlund from the Wild Samoans with Backlund declaring, "He's good now!" about Hogan, a phrase that Dave Scherer loved and often refers to on the No Name Show in the PWInsider.com Elite section.

What happened to WWE.com's backstage exclusives with Joey Styles? He seems to have disappeared from that position and I enjoyed seeing him on it.

Joey Styles is still heading up WWE.com and does still do video interviews in the Videos section (where else) of the WWE website.

Do you think that Cena will ever return to his Gimmick he had as U.S. Champion? Injust saw a video from him during that Gimmick and he got cheered by the whole (!) crowd, not just the 5 - 10 year old boys and the girls. He even got booed in his match against Edge the heel with the most heat today.

If you mean the Thuganomics, hip hop gimmick, I really don't see John Cena going back to that.  He's evolved as a performer and personality since that time period.

My question concerns the Undertaker. The match he is going to have at One Night Stand, is it possible that he would really vanish from WWE ? I mean is he hurt and just needs time off or is this just another storyline to get people to order? Your thoughts.

Well, I am answering this after the match because of the backlog of questions, but in terms of vanishing, he is still part of the company and will return when he's done with this latest sabbatical to refresh himself and heal up.
