I have a question about TNA. The one thing I have notice about TNA is that they don't have a interview segment with a wrestler host, like Jericho's Highlight Reel or Edge's Cutting Edge. Who do you think should have one in TNA, and what should it be called? I know that Christian had one, and that might be an easy answer.
I don't know if you absolutely need a wrestler-hosted interview segment, but a variation on Christian's "Peep Show" might work. However, I would rather see TNA go in a different direction, and possibly have Jim Mitchell do a segment, not so much for interviews, but where he comments on recent events in TNA with a "demonic" spin on things.
Dave answered a question this week about the WWF Light Heavyweight title and how it was part of the J-Crown which Ultimo Dragon held when he was in WCW. Dave said the title was not an official WWF title at the time and was largely defended only in Mexico and Japan. So, what I'm wondering is, when and why was the belt created? Why would WWF create a title only to give to other organizations for their use? I'm surprised they wouldn't want to control it, even if it was exactly a priority for them. When WWF finally decided to crown their own Light Heavyweight champ in 1997, did they take back their own belt or create a new one?
The WWF Junior Heavyweight Title has a pretty spotty history. It was basically a belt created to showcase Tatsumi Fujinami when he came over to the U.S. to work. Later in the early 80's, it was revived to serve the same function for Tiger Mask. The belt then went over to Japan, and WWF pretty much stopped recognizing it, although it kept the WWF name. When WWF decided to have their own Light Heavyweight title in the 90's, they asked New Japan to discontinue use of the old one, and created a new belt for it.
I have noticed that as of late, the WWE has stepped up their women's division regarding actual wrestling and less on showcasing the women. On Raw, the focus is on Melina, Mickie James and Beth Phoenix and women like Maria have fell off the face of the Earth. Smackdown created a new women's title with focus on Natalya, Victoria and Mc Cool. Do you think TNA's Knockouts division and their constant praise by many in and out of the industry has something to do with WWE trying to compete with them? And can this be the first step for WWE realizing that they now have to start thinking fresher to compete with others?
It's hard to say if TNA was the inspiration behind it, but it wouldn't surprise me if it gave WWE a nudge to try and top them. In truth, WWE has always seemed to go through cycles with the women's division. They focus on the wrestling aspect for a while, then switch gears and make it all about the bodies, then back again, with occasional periods where the women hardly get any attention at all. I really just think we've hit that period where WWE gives the ladies the opportunity to show they can wrestle and put on solid matches.
This may be a dumb question, but William Regal : Heel GM of Raw. Vickie Guerrero : Heel GM of Smackdown. fans hated both. Regal out for himself, VG out for her & Edge. So how come Regal got "fired", and VG doesn't? Yes I know WR getting fired was a storyline to cover his suspension, but if VG is the same character... why has nothing happened to her? While she does nothing but annoy me, I did like Regal. And btw..when are they going to make her walk again, especially since everyone knows she can?
It might seem like a copout answer, but the truth is: Because that's what WWE decided to do. I honestly don't blame them for not taking Vickie out of her role yet, since her and Edge seem to have instant heat with the crowd. As for her walking, I agree that the wheelchair gimmick has lost all effectiveness now. They should probably have the Edgeheads carry her out on a throne or something.
With the ratings the WWE are getting, do you think there is a chance the WWE might take a risk and put the title on Jeff Hardy?
I don't know if they will put the title on Hardy, but I could definitely see Hardy feuding with the World Champion sooner rather than later.
