PWINSIDER Q&A: JEFF HARDY'S POST-SUSPENSION PUSH, DAFFNEY IN TNA, WRESTLERS IN SUITS & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2008-06-08 10:00:00

Would you know if WWE and TNA allowed any American service men and women to attend tapings of their respected shows Raw and Impact! free in celebration of Memorial Day?

I haven't heard of any WWE offers, but certainly TNA did because Impact is a free TV taping for anyone who wants to see the show.

Why is it that some wrestlers today are wearing suits when they are chasing or have won the world title? I have noticed that in the last few years Kurt Angle, Batista, Bobby Lashley, and Samoa Joe wore suits to the ring with the world title.  To me, this takes away from the wrestler because this seems like it is not the same wrestler you got behind and cheered to get to the title that they won and also takes away from the character. Your thoughts?

The idea is that now they are World champion, they are dressing the part, following the trend that Ric Flair started years ago that the World champion should look and dress the part.  I understand that you feel that it's taking away from what brought the performer to the dance, so to speak, but unless it's a major personality change, I don't see the issue.  It's not like the Missing Link or Necro Butcher suddenly started wearing suits - everyone you mentioned come across like intelligent, legitimate athletes and that's how legitimate star athletes dress.

Is it possible Jeff Hardy's push picked up where it left off because either 1) it
wasn't a serious enough offense, 2) out of sympathy for the lost home due to fire,
3) the amount of merchandise he moves, or 4) all of the above?

All are possible, but I get the impression it continued because the company knows he can make them money and that's the bottom line.

Has TNA given any thought about airing either impact or one of their other shows on AFN (The Armed Forces Network) like WWE does with Raw, Smackdown I'm sure ECW along with their PPV's for the troops?

I've never heard of any discussion, but if anyone involved with the AFN wants TNA programming, I'll be happy to put them in touch with the TNA office.

What a great suprise to see Daffney on TNA last night. Is she signed to TNA or was this a one time thing?

She is not yet signed to the company.
