I've heard rumors that CM Punk is currently in the "Doghouse" with certain WWE Officials (namely Stephanie McMahon) and that could be the reason why he has been booked less favorably. Have you heard anything about this? It seems that some people say that CM Punk has a knack for getting on people's nerves (some saying that he gets a bad repoir with other wrestlers seeing how he doesn't go out to the bar and drink with them). I was just checking to see if you've heard about any of this.
I have not heard anything about CM Punk getting on people's nerves, or some sort of negative light being shone on him because he doesn't drink. It's not like a pregnant Stephanie McMahon and the rest of WWE Creative demand that wrestlers go to the bar with them before giving them a push. Besides, if Punk were really in the doghouse, he wouldn't be featured on television and PPVs.
Do you see any wrestler on the current WWE roster who has the wrestling/promo ability to become a superstar like Stone Cold/The Rock with the right push? And do you think that the WWE would have won the Monday Night Wars with the current roster?
Performers like Rock and Austin don't show up every day. I think someone like MVP is incredibly talented and can become a top star, but comparing him, or anyone, to Austin and Rock is unfair. As for winning the Monday Night War with the current roster, I think they could have. Win it with the current creative team? Nope.
Can you recommend the "Monday Night Wars" DVD?
Sure, although you need to remember that it is a WWE produced DVD with a definite WWE slant on the story. It is still worth watching, but there's a lot of other DVDs I would suggest getting first from our friends at www.Highspots.com.
Is there a "big" indy promotion here in Germany? Did any current superstar of WWE/TNA ever worked for some promotion in Germany?
Honestly, I haven't followed the indy scene in Germany in a long time, but when I did, Otto Wanz' CWA was the big promotion there, doing very well by running tent shows in the summer. As for current stars working in Germany, Finlay was a top worker for CWA while also working in Japan.
I'm interested in finding out more about the career of Abdullah the Butcher. Are there any books out there that are either about him primarily or, at the very least, have some good stories about him? Also, when he was making his way around the world in the 60's and 70's, stabbing every top babyface in every territory with a fork, was he the only guy in the industry having those types of matches? Did any prominent wrestlers simply refuse to work with him?
I don't know of any books on Abdullah, but I would recommend tracking down some of his shoot interviews and his Japanese TV interview that was conducted by Keiji Mutoh. Abdullah wasn't the only "madman" working in the business, as both the Original Sheik and Fred Blassie were famous for having bloodbaths as well.
