PWINSIDER Q&A: WWE GIVING AWAY MONEY ON RAW, MOST IMPROVED WWE DIVA, FLAIR FAREWELL ON DVD AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2008-05-27 09:39:30

What's WWE's issue with "Junior" in a name? Do they think it takes away from a performer or something? It's pretty silly if you ask me, but we have Ted Dibiase Jr. who recently dropped the "Junior" part and Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Rey Mysterio Jr. who were both known as "Junior" long before WWE. When Chavo Sr. showed up for a bit, they referred to him as "Chavo Classic" instead of Senior and when John Cena's father was appearing on RAW they almost always referred to him as "Mr. Cena" instead of John Sr. What's the deal?

My guess is that it's the company trying to make sure the talents stand on their own, as opposed to being looked upon as carbon copy clones of their fathers.  In the case of Cena Sr., it was likely so they had some sort of name they could copyright if they wanted to.

Are we really supposed to believe that WWE is going to give away a million dollars a week every week on Raw?  How can this be legitimate?

Well, based on the wording on the WWE website - "In a blockbuster announcement, the Chairman declared that he will be handing out $1 million of his own money live on Raw - it appears they will be giving away $1 million total, not a million every week.  I certainly felt that the tease last night was that McMahon was giving away the former.  So, if they are only giving away $1 million, they certainly have the financial war chest to afford that.

What ever happened to the WWE Raw after Wrestlemania being on the Wrestlemania 24 3 disk set?  Are we ever going to see the Ric Flair Raw goodbye show on DVD?

It was never slated to be part of the WWE Wrestlemania DVD release.  If it's going to be released anywhere, it'll be the 7/8 Definitive Ric Flair Collection, but I wouldn't hold your breath for a full fledged complete release of the episode, just the Flair footage.

Besides the current WWE Divas Mickie James, Beth Phoenix and Katie Lea who, in your opinion, has greatly improved as a wrestler in the ring? Maryse, Michelle McCool or Layla?

Of the three names you mention, I would say Layla, who came from a situation where she had no wrestling background and looked terrible inside the ring and has grown into a solid performer.  I don't know that we can expect her to reach Trish Stratus levels, but her work is much more interesting and very rarely are there moments where you roll your eyes watching her work because she's so bad.  I actually feel that way about most of the Divas roster - McCool, Kelly Kelly, Cherry and even Maryse have shown good strides towards improvement in the ring of late.

During the recent TNA Impact! a woman by the name of Melissa accepted Awesome Kong's $25, 000 Challenge. She was subsequently destroyed by Kong when she delivered, in my opinion, a brutal power bomb for the pin. Who was this Mellissa? Was she hurt by the power bomb in any way?

Melissa is a trainee at the Team 3D Wrestling Academy in Florida.  Beyond Kong working stiff to get over the segment, Melissa wasn't injured.
