What was your favorite Stevie Richards gimmick? (I just saw Baron Von Stevie w/ Blue Dust and was cracking up.)
I always got a big kick of out Richards & Meanie doing Public Enemy. That probably was my favorite, but their KISS impersonation was really fun live.
Do you see Lucha becoming a stronger presence with the increase of the Latino population in the U.S.?
I think it all depends on whether we see more Lucha shows taking place in the U.S. Obviously, with Televisa, Galavision and Fox Sports Espanol all airing Lucha, it isn't unthinkable that a promotion could do well with Lucha shows in the U.S. Lucha shows have drawn well in some markets, most notably California, for years. It's really up to the promotions and whether they want to expand into the U.S. more.
Do you think that William Regal will make a good transitional champion to take the belt from HHH and put it on a babyface? (Ala Iron Sheik defeating Bob Backlund to get the belt to Hogan.)
Sure, William Regal could fill that role, but at this point, he would need more matches to convince the audience that he is a worthy challenger to the title. If WWE were going to do such a switch, it would have to be for a transitional change. I am a big fan of Regal, but I don't see him as World Champion. In all honesty, if it is just going to be a transitional switch, they might as well use JBL in that role. Not that I prefer JBL, but I think fans would be quicker to believe him as a title challenger at this point.
I read online that Arn Anderson was once a member of the original Legion of Doom as it existed in the NWA, specifically Georgia Championship Wrestling. If that is true, that would put Arn in 2 of the greatest stables in wrestling history, in my opinion. Do you have any details about Arn's tenure in the Legion?
It wasn't much of a tenure, to be honest. In 1983, Precious Paul Ellering referred to his entire stable as the "Legion Of Doom". The group including the Road Warriors, of course, as well as The Spoiler, Buzz Sawyer, Jake Roberts, Matt Borne and Arn Anderson. By 1984, Ellering was only managing the Road Warriors, who of course adopted the Legion Of Doom moniker as their nickname for the rest of their career. Arn was really just a mid-card talent at this point, not breaking out as a star until a rear or so later, when he and Ole Anderson began tagging and, eventually, becoming part of the original Four Horseman. Technically, you can say that Arn Anderson was part of the LOD and The Horsemen.
Is Ring Of Honor the new (original) ECW, meaning the best independent company in the U.S. right now? Could they change things in the business like ECW changed WCW and WWE in the 90s?
Is Ring Of Honor the best independent company in the U.S. right now? Sure, if you consider it an independent. They have PPV, national DVD distribution and run regularly in several states, so in my book, they're bigger than an independent. In all honesty, the only thing really seperating them from TNA is a national cable television deal and live PPVs. I don't think comparing them to ECW is really fair at this point, and I'd rather just see them continue to be the successful niche product they are. Can they change the business? I doubt it, especially with WWE so far ahead of the pack right now. But, they can make the business a bit more enjoyable, that's for sure.
