What was the story behind HBK replacing Jerry Lawler in the1993 Survivor Series 1993 match against the Harts? Lawler had been feuding with Hart all summer only for it to suddenly end and have HBK put in his place.
Lawler took leave of the company due to accusations of statutory rape. The charges were later dropped. While the case was ongoing, WWF wisely distanced themselves from Lawler. He returned in March 1994 as a surprise announcer at Wrestlemania X and with the exception of the period he left in protest when his then-wife The Kat Stacy Carter was let go, he been with WWF/E since.
Can you see a HBK title win at Mania next year to mark the 25th Mania in his home state for the longest serving WWE superstar? I'd personally love to see HBK vs. HHH face vs. face, something which hasn't been done before.
I personally feel that Michaels should never get another title win, because it's not going to bring him up another level when he's already seen as a living legend, plus he's never going to go full-time on the road to defend it. I would much rather see Michaels vs. Undertaker at Wrestlemania 25 with the theme of Mr. Wrestlemania vs. Mr. Undefeated. After the glimpse of the greatness that match could provide at the 2007 Royal Rumble, I've been anxiously awaiting a chance for it to be brought to a major show.
Do you think WWE dropped the ball when The Rock and Austin left by not pushing someone like Jericho as the new main face? I know they pushed Lesnar and HHH hard but both were over as heels and the signings of Goldberg, Steiner etc didn't do much. I cant help but think a Y2J or even RVD run with the title around that time could have had more of a positive impact on the business that we would still see today.
Yes, I do, but not because they didn't push Jericho as the main face, but because they utilized Jericho, who was champion at the time, in a secondary role to Stephanie McMahon in her role as Triple H's ex-wife.
While watching the Cherry vs. Victoria match on Smackdown, I noticed Victoria seems leaner. Has their been pressure from management for her to have a less muscular appearance? I noticed a similar situation with a thinner Chyna on her final run.
I doubt there's pressure from management to have a less muscular appearance, but a leaner physique could be from any number of factors including a change in workout, an injury preventing harder lifting (and Victoria has been working on an injured knee for years) or even a diet change.
Do you think with Jeff Hardy completely screwing up like he did, will that
be the
last time HHH puts over some up and comer the fans love for a while? It
seems to me like a blank check for him to not do the job " IN THE BEST
INTEREST OF THE BUSINESS.
No, because I don't think there's anyone on the horizon who is ready. CM Punk, MVP and Ken Kennedy seem to be the three names closest to that level, but pushing them up there before they are ready is a sure-fire recipe to peak them early and ruin their runs. I see no harm in Triple H having a run with the WWE title since he hasn't had an extended run since dropping the World title to Batista at Wrestlemania 21, so we are talking several years now.
