PWINSIDER Q&A: SID VICIOUS, WWE DRAFT, TRIPLE H BACKLASH AND MORE

I have a question about Sid Vicious. Is he coming back to WWE or going to TNA? Have you guys at PWInsider.com heard anything about it being legit? He mentioned in a shoot interview a few months back that he was in talks with Vince. Is that just him trying to get people talking or is he coming back. I saw him on youtube in a match recently and for pushing 50 he does look in great shape. I would much rather see him feuding with say a Big Show then a Great Khali. While both feuds are big man snooze fest, Sid can talk much better on the mic then Khali.

Sid is indeed planning a comeback, and will be working shows for the NWA.  For 48, he definitely looks in good shape, and the last time I saw him he appeared to be moving very well on the leg that he broke at the end of his WCW run seven years ago.  I have heard no plans for him to go to WWE, and to be honest, he was pretty derogatory towards the company in some of his interviews, claiming they didn't run big enough venues for him.  I haven't heard of any TNA interest either.  I agree he certainly can't be worse than Khali!

Is WWE still holding a draft for 2008? The June 23 three hour Raw from San Antonio has been a rumored date.

The talk was that WWE would be doing a draft this year, but no date has ever been confirmed for it taking place.  A three-hour Raw seems to make the most sense though.

With what happened on Raw Monday night with general manager William Regal putting a halt to the match between Triple H and Randy Orton no explanation given, wasn't there once a match a few years ago during a house show where Vince McMahon stopped it because he didn't like the way it was being executed? Any similarity between the two matches? Wasn't William Regal general manager some years ago?

Yes, there was a house show match between Tajiri and Rhyno where Vince McMahon didn't like how it was unfolding, so he basically walked out to the ring, stopped the match, and cut a promo in his "Mr. McMahon" character.  Really, the only connection between that and the H-Orton match on Monday was that an authority figure called off the match.  William Regal was indeed General Manager several years ago.

I don't understand the backlash from fans regarding Triple H's recent title victory. I know that he's married to the boss' daughter and he has great political power backstage. However, it was pretty clear based on buyrates and ratings that Randy Orton just wasn't doing it as champion. John Cena has had lengthy runs with the belt already, and is off making a movie (and thus, his appearances have been becoming sporadic). No one in their right mind would think JBL is worthy of a title reign at this time. Despite all the backstage drama, Triple H is a proven star and a great worker, so doesn't it make sense to put the belt on him at a down time for the company, given that he can have good matches with just about anyone? What other options were there?

I agree.  WWE had only two options, either keep the belt on Orton, who has been champion for over six months, or put the belt on Triple H.  They decided on the latter.  I think some people are just always going to complain whenever Triple H has the belt, simply because they will always shout from the rooftops that it is because of his place in the company (and family).  Are there grains of truth to these claims?  Sure.  However, you can't doubt the effort Triple H puts in the ring and the fact that he is amongst WWE's top stars and is more than worthy of having another run with the title.

Do you think maybe the reason why TNA doesn't get such good ratings is because every time I turn it on I feel like I'm bombarded with noise, whether it be the fans in the audience screaming or the announcers hyping things? I don't know if it's just like, the way they mic around ringside where it picks up crowd noise more, but it seems the crowd almost drowns out the announcers. Just a thought. I just feel bombarded with noise.

TNA does seem to like having a "loud" show, as their crowd noise is always turned up, and often the announcers are shouting during commentary.  However, I don't think that is where their ratings problem lies.  Their rating has been very consistent since moving to the current timeslot.  They don't gain viewers, they don't lose viewers.  I'm not sure if turning down the volume would really get many more people to tune in.
